Interesting. So this is like the XFL part 2? Any former State players on any of these teams? ]
2/8/2019 2:24:50 PM
Hard pass

Not sure on NC State PlayersBeing down in Atlanta they talk about the Atlanta team some on Sports Talk radio but its been mostly negative for Atlanta.Head Coach Brad Childress quit a few days into start of practiceMichael Vick was the Offensive Coordinator he either quit or was fired yesterdayAaron Murray (Former UGA QB) was supposed to be starter but he lost out to Matt SimmsIt may do alright as a novelty act for a few weeks but once March Madness starts no one will care.

Haven't watched a ton, but there are some camera angles that I think the NFL will end up implementing
2/9/2019 9:50:48 PM
Jeff Fisher is the head of football strategy for the AAF
2/9/2019 10:51:43 PM
I know Tobais Palmer is on a team. That was the only name that popped out to me.
2/10/2019 9:22:28 AM
Loved their cover of Smooth Criminal
2/10/2019 11:36:02 AM
^^^^^And what about when the XFL starts again in the up coming years.
2/10/2019 1:00:00 PM
Tobias Palmer and Jack Tocho both play for the Birmingham Iron
2/10/2019 1:32:16 PM
So I didn’t watch. But some of the rules I’ve seen are interesting. Also, the replay officials being mic’d up is neat insight. The NFL would never allow that though. [Edited on February 10, 2019 at 2:17 PM. Reason : A]

i'm all in. Orlando Apollos all the way. Love watching the head ball coach limp down the sidelines.]
2/11/2019 9:32:36 AM
Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks represent!I liked the UFL when it was running some years ago. But it amazes me how many lives spring minor league football has. It's had a lot of believers over the years that have lost a lot of money.
2/11/2019 10:22:47 AM
Y'all should all be Iron fans, the reason Tocho and Palmer are on the Iron is because the AAF has what they're calling a territorial draft, where each AAF team can only pick players from certain colleges/NFL/CFL teams, and NC State is in the Iron's territory
2/14/2019 12:47:53 AM
But then we'd also have to be fans of any UNC players as well.
2/14/2019 10:35:13 AM
Pretty decent game going on now between Orlando and San Antonio
2/17/2019 5:06:38 PM
^^ UNC is affiliated with the Atlanta Legends
2/17/2019 5:43:41 PM
Oh ok, GO HAM IRON
2/17/2019 10:26:12 PM
Maybe Dundon can get us a team?
2/19/2019 1:19:12 PM
will it even last past this season?
2/19/2019 2:44:07 PM
Well it's not a good sign that they apparently already couldn't pay everybody prior to week 1 and had to have someone come in and basically buy the league.
2/19/2019 3:38:54 PM
Have Raleigh field a team. They play in Carter Finley. Lease out CF
2/19/2019 6:45:05 PM
That's the plan according to Dundon
2/19/2019 6:57:45 PM
And have Kaep as the QB @20 million per year.
2/19/2019 7:11:40 PM
Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks, Version 2!
2/19/2019 8:42:36 PM
Package deal for an AAF team and MLS team to share a stadium
2/19/2019 9:01:26 PM
Why would State let a team play in C-F when Dundon threw a hissy fit about the scheduling conflicts in PNC?
2/20/2019 8:05:17 AM
Because money?I would assume that the AAF teams would use the locker rooms in Finley fieldhouse and wouldn't be using the Murphy center at all, so it really wouldn't interfere with spring practice or training/whatever

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/02/23/report-dundon-can-pull-the-plug-on-his-aaf-investment/Yeah, so Dundon is basically keeping this league afloat, and he can pull the plug at any time if so chooses.

so did Dundan lose all $250 million on this?
4/2/2019 6:26:25 PM
no. cost him $70 million. https://mobile.twitter.com/AlbertBreer/status/1113123410215952386
4/2/2019 6:29:48 PM
lol nice. He's gonna make bank with that.
4/2/2019 7:40:46 PM
So has this league folded yet? I heard it was in trouble.
4/3/2019 8:54:33 AM
Yes.It was in trouble from the start, because the founders were bad at finance.
4/3/2019 9:56:54 AM
so did Dundon pull out all of his money or did he lose a bunch? kinda looks like it was a verbal agreement that he reneged on, but I don't know if any other news has come out to clarify that
4/3/2019 11:03:58 AM
On the one hand it seems like there would be way easier ways to get a hold of the tech if that is really the goal, but I'd be curious to know how much of a write off Dundon could make on a "loss" on investment. If you look at it that way that he can find some way to claim a tax loss and get a hold of some assets that's the only way this makes sense.
4/3/2019 11:37:05 AM
it was billed at the beginning that he invested 250 mil but if you looked into it further they admitted at the time he could pull out at any timepeople are pinning this on him it seems like, but without him this would have happened a couple months ago anyhow. now is the time where the NFL could step in and purchase it and turn it into a minor league if they wanted to do so -- pretty sure thats what happened with the USFL right? and that's what led to the eventual NFL Europe?
4/3/2019 12:39:57 PM
USFL was way more successful than AAF, and in all likelihood would have succeeded if Donald Trump and a few other owners hadn't gotten the league to switch to a fall season to compete directly with the NFL and try and force a merger. USFL had nothing to do with NFL Europe. You're thinking of WLAF, which became NFL Europe/Europa. That was started by the NFL and they owned most of the teams. It's pretty obvious that AAF wasn't really ready to start playing, but the people in charge at the time felt like they had to beat the revived XFL to the playing field. They immediately lacked the funding to do basic things like send out paychecks to players. That led to them having to give up majority control just to be able to continue on a week-by-week basis. Bill Polian and Charlie Ebersol are the ones who fucked this up, not Dundon.

We wanna just keep this for our discount football thread?XFL starts next week - anyone got a team? I'm thinking DC Defenders
