Make sure you know what you’re voting on...

https://www.sosnc.gov/divisions/nc_constitutional_documents/nc_constitutional_amendments

https://today.duke.edu/2018/10/what-would-six-constitutional-amendments-nc-ballot-do

Interesting how poorly some of those are worded on the ballot...

Form an 8 person bipartisan ethics committee? You mean remove the 9th independent member/tiebreaker on the already existing bipartisan ethics committee so that they deadlock on everything? No thanks

Let the folks making the laws pick 2 judges to interpret the laws that toe the party line for whoever has the majority? No thanks

Reduce the income tax rate oh you mean limit the cap for what it can be raised to when the state govt needs to levy more taxes in the future? If they can’t raise the tax rate over 7%, I’m sure they won’t find another way to pass the cost on to the taxpayer. With that being said, limiting cap could maybe sorta force the govt to work within its means? I’m on the fence...

While I think it makes sense to validate who is voting and only voting once, this voter ID shell of an amendment doesn’t tell me anything. No thanks - try harder and resubmit

We all want more victims rights right? For corporations too? How about if we don’t know how to pay for the extra costs those rights create? Maybe we just pass that on to the tax payers to figure out.

Go hunting I don’t care

admits to not knowing what the hell the amendments are about but plans to vote for 2 of them based on very limited information, that's some top republican reasoning at work

When the gov needs to raise taxes for revenue and can't raise income tax, they'll raise stuff like sales tax, which disproportionately affects lower income people.

I voted no on all of the amendments. The NC General Assembly needs to tone down the stupidity before I vote to let them make amendments to the Constitution.

Also, I already hunt and fish, and have done so in this state for decades, we don't need an amendment to go hunting.

The hunting/fishing amendment is utter nonsense, and is only there to get people in the mode of voting "yes" to the rest of the dumbfuck amendments.

The current state tax rate is 4.75%. That one is nonsense too, we are well short of 7%, and shouldn't be there anytime soon, but to lower the current cap (10% I believe) seems frivolous and another attempt to get stupid R's to vote YES on everything else. As an earlier poster said, the state will get their money if they need it, so they will simply increase other fees, add more toll roads (or other pay-per-use services) or up the sales tax as necessary in the future (which will disproportionately impact lower income citizens). Same thing they did with the education lotto: yes, all that cheddar goes to education, they just cut existing education funding, use the lotto $$$ and shift to some other payable on the ledger. There are going to be a lot of people patting themselves on the back today for voting to "lower" taxes who don't understand what is going on.

There's going to be a lot of people voting to change the state constitution in multiple ways who don't understand what's going on. I'd bet the vast, vast majority won't understand what they're voting "yes" to, but if the GOP says it's good, it's gotta be good.
