In theaters Dec 14th, 2018Trailer 1https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IRsFc2gguEgTrailer 2https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuL5yXsOAIASeeing Peter Jackson heading this prompted me to read the (first) book in preparation. The trailers are heavily focused on the girl, Hester, and make the movie seem like another cheeky-girl-saves-the-world story (Hunger Games, Divergent). The book actually spends a lot of time between 3 main characters, and I hope the movie does the same. As a once-in-a-blue-moon book reader, I give the story two thumbs up. Keep in mind, it's "young adult" literature and reads as easily as Harry Potter. It's not LOTR league. The whole "your mother asked me to come find you. You're the only one that can stop him!" thing was not a part of the book. The mother played a very small role limited to her own timeline. The daughter is simply out for blood. The biggest letdown to me so far is the Asian pilot's monotonous delivery.
