Anyone been watching Sharp Objects on HBO? Haven't heard much about it and wondering if it's worth following.

I’ve heard some good things, but haven’t started watching it yet either

I'm bored with this show. Basically still watching it because it had a lot of positive buzz going into debut...

My wife loved the book and she's been watching it but doesn't seem overly impressed with some of the changes they've made so far. Normally she's abuzz about the shows she's read the books for, but this one she's been basically silent on, so I can tell it's not going well, haha.

I'm losing interest in the show, mainly because the writing isn't very believable. How is a woman that drinks vodka nonstop out of a water bottle all day still coherent at the bar at closing time or while interviewing witnesses and law enforcement? And why would a person that drinks vodka from a water bottle also keep airplane bottles? I keep watching, hoping for a twist similar to the Lamborghini drive scene from Wolf of Wall Street, but I don't think it's coming.

My wife watches it, but to me its hella boring, so I don't watch it.

i'm surprised to see the disinterest. I am absolutely hooked. But i really like Amy Adams, so maybe that helps me.

i only made it halfway into the first episode, does it pick up after that or does it all have the same pacing?
8/7/2018 11:14:41 AM
it's a slow, deliberate pace. But the last two episodes have ramped-up the tension.
8/7/2018 1:22:57 PM
it gets slower than that at times. The writing is such that you see multiple distorted perceptions of people and events, which can make the show feel like it's dragging along rehashing the same events until you realize the reality of what's being shown is different than before. After this last episode, I'm convinced that Amma is Camille's daughter and not her half-sister.
8/7/2018 1:41:29 PM
ooo i hadn't thought about that.
8/7/2018 2:42:43 PM
I'm 2 episodes back. I'll watch the whole thing, but at this point there's no much pushing me to watch this.
8/8/2018 4:39:40 PM
Im the same way. Think I will wait until it finishes and then binge through all this slow burn.
8/8/2018 8:08:36 PM
after watching the first 5 episodes, I can say...this is still boring.
8/13/2018 8:57:27 AM
I enjoyed tonight’s episode.

One thing I can say about this show is that it nails how nasty small town people can be. Sometimes it pushes the depiction so far I'm like this almost satirical. But then I think about growing up in Eastern NC and I'm like, nope not satirical to me.

Really enjoyed the last 2 episodes. Glad I stuck around to watch the whole series.

Man, i dumbly did not anticipate that ending. Thought for sure another twist was coming but was naive about that outcome. Oh well, pretty good finale.
8/27/2018 9:17:22 AM
I enjoyed this show a lot but felt like the ending fell a little flat. Worth watching but it just left me disappointed.

It was better than most stuff on TV.It was nice for men to get a break for once. But Alan, I mean come on. How can you be that oblivious? Sometimes denial and failure to notice alarming behavior is just as bad as the alarming behavior itself.

that motherfucker knew
8/28/2018 9:41:11 PM
Everyone watch the bonus clips "hidden" in the credits?
8/29/2018 12:42:04 PM
I couldn't make out the other girl helping. It didn't look like the tall brunette girl friend. Maybe it was the other one. Sequel?
8/30/2018 12:45:12 PM
Did they ever tie up the blood under John's bed? If that's where Amma killed Natalie they didn't really clear that up in the credits scene.
8/31/2018 8:51:44 AM
just chalk it up to being a show with really shitty writing and plot. how did Camille manage to carve words between her shoulder blades? How did Amma manage to carry a lifeless decaying corpse through town and stage it without anyone noticing? How were multiple doctors unable to detect rat poison in little girls when munchausen by proxy was suspected? How did Camille not die earlier in life when she was cutting herself and her mom was poisoning her with an anticoagulant?
8/31/2018 6:12:43 PM
^all the boys were with her in that mid credits scene they all did it together (I think)Watched it frame by frame, guess it's the girls that do anything she tells them to[Edited on September 4, 2018 at 10:57 PM. Reason : E]

Actually I thought it was clear Camille stopped letting her mom poison her fairly early in high school and the cutting probably started/intensified after that. Adora started treating Camille with contempt after Camille refused.
