makes me drowsy at work if I take it in the morning

makes me unable to sleep if I take it before bedtime

should I even bother with this? I've been kinda depressed but mostly I've been more irritable lately so I'm trying it to chill out a bit I guess ;3 I've been on it a little short of two weeks, and I feel like I'm a bit less irritable

I'm going to take it after work/dinner time and see how that goes

any success stories/thoughts with THIS DRUG?

I know anti-depressants are kind of a cop out and I just need to get a life, but, I feel like it might help :3

serious question: cannabis (alone) doesn't help with this?

These drugs take weeks to months to really get settled out. You're still in the early part of adapting to a new treatment.

I don't think it's working

it's been over 3 months apparently..

I self-dosed from 10 up to 15 mg last week but idk

I mean a lot of it I guess is my job sux w/ erratic hours and I have no life and nothing to look forward to, so I'm still trying to determine if the situational part is eclipsing the effects or what

I mean I have good days and I don't rly feel like extremely down but I'm still rarely happy

should I give up on it or wat

I can't say the effects of weed are residual

I can't tell very easily the effects pills have on me

You won't like this reply, but none of that stuff works. The efficacy of SSRIs is very low. Weed contributes to depression as well (yeah yeah it's taboo to say anything negative about weed, but if you've been a regular user at all you know this is true). From my own experience. Life with no filters is what worked for me.

not sure why that is

I don't rly take meds for headaches bc they don't seem to work or something

I don't get very many headaches

Aleve seems to kinda help I guess

I think my brain is immune to a lot of anti-depressants :-\

I don't know anything about drugs, but sorry you're having a hard time finding more good days. You should definitely try something about the situational aspects though.

When you imagine somebody who has "a life" what does that look like to you

SSRIs have a proven track record and plenty of data. I've clearly seen them work well for people. They have plenty of molecules so try another one if this one isn't doing it.

He isn't wrong. I was sort of being an ass. But don't get discouraged if none of them work for you, because that can happen too. In my case, the pharmaceutical route did not work for me.

What worked for me was having a routine, living life with no filters (I don't even use caffeine), yoga, good diet, and mindfulness. My situation was further complicated however by the fact that I spent years depressed and then it climaxed with chronic pain from an injury in January that I'm still getting over.

ok, so what's one thing that you enjoy going out and doing? What's the last thing you went out and did that you enjoyed? Go do that again

^ what does life with no filters mean? tbh sounds like some meaningless word vomit, but hey I'm glad it's working for you. also, please frame your response in a newsletter format that I can subscribe to.

By life with no filters I meant not drinking, smoking chronic or cigarettes. I also stopped using caffeine as well. Worked well for my anxiety and depression. There is an acute intensification of depression as you quit these things though. The "why am I so depressed starter pack" meme really hit home for me.

This. There are all kinds of social meetups for people that enjoy any different kind of hobbies, check into those to meet some new folks. Pick up playing kickball or some other social sport, I know there are a good handful of rec leagues out in the Raleigh area. Hell, there's even a curling league with a space out in Durham, and I think they're in open enrollment for fall leagues right now.

I'm also in the camp where I need a routine and to stay extremely busy. Exercise, eating well, and taking a good regimen of vitamins will do wonders.

I do get anxiety in certain situations (flying, high-pressure meetings, etc.) and xanax has been an absolute lifesaver for acute anxiety. SSRIs have always made me feel terrible, but I've seen them work well for some, but make things worse for others. Your body chemistry is pretty unique to you so you just have to see what works. Also, I have nothing against weed at all, but it's not the panacea some people make it out to be, although again, what works for some may not for others.

Go find a therapist. And don't just pick anyone, go read their websites and find one that you'll get along with. Exercise, eating well, mindfulness, etc are great but you still need to get to the root of the issue and develop strategies based on that.
