Also, what would I do with TWW if I did buy it? I don't even understand the fundamentals of how this thing is hosted. I don't even really know what "hosted" means. From qtmnfred's posts I gather that some amount of money is paid for this thing to be kept alive on - servers, I guess? Look, my knowledge base is tolerably broad, or I wouldn't have gotten on Jeopardy in the first place, but I'm afraid it has a gaping void around the subject of "how internet happens."

Doesn't 3rd get $1,000? If you finish negative do you still get the $1,000?

Third place gets $1,000, no matter what - positive, negative, whatever. Second place gets $2,000, no matter what. But first place only gets what they have on the board. This means that it's possible for first place to walk away with less money than third place - though of course they get to come back and win more, or at least lose and get that $1,000. It happens sometimes in games that are close and then everybody gets the final wrong.

As for being Scrooge McDuck...Jeopardy doesn't mail your check until 120 days after the air date. So even in the charming fantasy where I got McDuck-level money, I couldn't swim in it until October.
