I thought it was pretty good. I'm wondering if it played to stereotypes a little much with the pimps though...specifically the one with the cane. Other than that, I enjoyed being completely immersed in the early 70's.On the flipside though, I don't see how anyone wanted to remain in 1970's NYC. The show makes the place look like a literal garbage heap.I definitely get a "The Wire" vibe though - you can tell it is sourced from the same folks.

you should read up on White flight if you're curious to know how 70's NYC (and other inner-cities) got to be like that

after binge watching all of Mad Men over the last four weeks it's actually really cool to see the gradual decline of NYC in that decade and transitioning right into The Deuce and seeing the cesspool it became in the 70s. in fact, i'm just going to pretend half of these characters were employees at SC&P before the roll up.

I'm wondering if HBO reused any of the props or set-pieces from Vinyl. I remember when I watched that how filthy they made NY look too.

Anybody still watching this? I want to like this, but watched the first episode and to me the show had no direction. There wasn't really anything that got me hooked. This is pretty common with pilots though since they are introducing characters. Just curious if it's worth finishing?

What the hell...I had no idea the last episode was the finale. I've literally been checking HBO every Monday thinking they were taking a long hiatus or something
11/17/2017 2:12:47 PM
It was okay. I felt like nothing really happened in it though.

I'm 3/4 the way through, I like it, though seeing Franco talk to himself is kinda weird.

Just started this up. really enjoying it. Pretty much every actor from the wire has a part.
