Do you drink it? If so, how do you take it?I've come to enjoy it more in my older age (37). In the past, I couldn't stomach it, but I've found that Bullet, or Knob Creek, with just a little bit of ginger ale or coke is pretty good. Still can't do that mess straight though.

Blanton's if u wanna get kinda fancy...on ice imo, as well as the ones u mention. The cheaper stuff u mix.
9/10/2017 12:41:02 AM
How do you drink Blantons? On ice or with something else?
9/10/2017 12:58:56 AM
it makes me sad to know that people put anything in their Bulleit
9/10/2017 1:59:36 AM
I really can't drink it straight. I'll try it with some water next time. But I've tried drinking straight whiskey since 1998, because I like the flavor. But it doesn't like my stomach. My apologies, I just realize I misspelled bulleit in the OP.[Edited on September 10, 2017 at 2:12 AM. Reason : Can't spell]

I'll add a small bit of water to whiskey or an ice cube. Mellows out the harshness just a touch and opens up the bouquet a bit so the aroma isn't too hot and harsh. I also sip it. No rush to drink makes it easier on the stomach if I'm not pounding them back. I also only drink straight with the good stuff. Lower end are used as mixers for whiskey sours or something else.
9/10/2017 5:29:25 AM
Coke? Are you a teenage girl?At least you didn't spell it whisky
9/10/2017 6:46:52 AM
I pretty much drink it exclusively neat, except for the occasional old fashioned. I might add a few drops of water to stuff >120 proof, but ice is way too much dilution, IMO
9/10/2017 8:37:06 AM
Drink your adult beverages in whichever manner suits your personal tastes.
9/10/2017 9:22:59 AM
Cheap Irish Whiskey (Paddy) + Black CoffeeOr straight with a single ice cube
9/10/2017 10:54:36 AM
My favorite lately has been knob creek, typically neat but now that i have a ice mold, ill throw one sphere in the glass

I drink it with a cube or 2 of ice in the summer, neat in the winter. my standby is basil haydens but I drink all kinds
9/10/2017 1:43:19 PM
This has been in my rotation a lot lately - pretty tasty
9/10/2017 2:52:09 PM
I only drink my whiskey neat, regardless of how cheap it is. I used to like it mixed with ginger ale, but lately I just want a ginger ale on the side to sip occasionally. I could care less if other people drink it neat or mixed with whatever; whatever wets their whistle.

9/11/2017 12:04:35 AM
^^ could you care less?
9/11/2017 12:36:24 AM
I like my whiskey on ice and my women on fire
9/11/2017 1:47:10 PM
Can you find Blanton's in Raleigh? It seems like there is some artificial supply/demand thing going on whenever I pop in an ABC store in ENC.
9/11/2017 7:20:26 PM
9/11/2017 7:28:06 PM
who said anything about it being top shelf?
9/11/2017 8:14:10 PM
no one.so far only one person has argued that it is not top shelf.[Edited on September 11, 2017 at 9:00 PM. Reason : ^ who exactly is it that "loves to argue" again?]
9/11/2017 8:58:30 PM
What do you guys consider top shelf? I've had Woodford Reserve, thought it was pretty good. It's a little more than Bulleit, but geez, if 40 for a fifth isn't top shelf, what is?
9/11/2017 9:19:52 PM
Bulleit is closer to $30 for a fifth, not quite top shelf prices.
9/11/2017 9:24:32 PM
I prefer to drink my Basil Hayden out of the bottle. Its that good.
9/11/2017 9:37:14 PM
^^Hmmm, Ok I'll buy that. The Woodford Reserve I bought seemed like it was close to 40. But I'm not gonna spend any more than that on any kind of liquor. I guess I'm just cheap.Or poor.

To me top shelf is something like Elijah Craig 23 year....
9/11/2017 9:45:28 PM
9/11/2017 9:46:49 PM
Recently finished a bottle of Glenlivet. I have it with just a little water.
9/11/2017 10:01:12 PM
Bulleit, and whiskey like Bulleit, shouldn't be mixed with sodathat's usually reserved for the lowest shelf whiskeyif you can't handle whiskey on its own, you're wasting money by diluting a better whiskey with soda
9/11/2017 10:01:16 PM
well sure, but not all whiskey drinks are whiskey + coke.i wouldn't want to use the cheap shit in a manhattan for example. you can still taste the quality of the something like bulleit in drinks like that.]
9/11/2017 10:07:41 PM
the OP made no mention of a drink like a Manhattan or Old Fashioned, which is what I was replying to
9/11/2017 10:09:43 PM
So it doesn't it make you sad when people put vermouth in bulleit?]
9/11/2017 10:18:49 PM
it makes me sad when people use shit vermouth to make a manhattan. I don't care if you mix your Breckenridge with soda, but don't buy a $6 bottle of Martini Rossi to go with your $50 bottle of bourbon. If your vermouth isn't worth drinking straight, then it's not worth being used as a mixer either.Vya and Carpano Antica are my preferred sweet vermouths.
9/12/2017 12:47:17 AM
fukken hot vermouth takesnow i've seen everything
9/12/2017 9:22:54 AM

Globe cube does fine for me. I enjoy a cool drink over room temp, and the melt adds enough water to bring out the extra flavors.Go to brand is Eagle Rare.
9/12/2017 10:56:14 AM
^^, ^^^ I'm a whiskey rock-a-rollerThat's what I am.Women, whiskey, and miles o' travelin'is all I understand.

9/13/2017 8:54:38 AM
I like it, but it is an expensive Hobby.
9/14/2017 5:53:34 AM
Maybe you could cut other costs, like not wasting money on valuable capital letters where they don't belong.
9/14/2017 7:42:03 AM
I take my whiskey like my women - weak mixed with a lot of gingerbut really if I'm shooting, Beam. Beam is underrated imoSipping, usually a single malt scotch.
