figured we could get this thread fired up for this season.got my drafts toward the end of this month (8/26 weekend)...so i'm just starting to prepare and look at rankings/mocks/etc.[Edited on August 7, 2017 at 3:43 PM. Jay Cutler number 1!
8/7/2017 3:41:49 PM
yahoo's really got some good analysis here:https://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy-football-picks-1-20-overrated-underrated-safest-bet-184522389.html
8/7/2017 3:44:41 PM
Only like 4 people listed in that write up...garbageMy plan this year is to look back last year and see who was the most consistent week to week in terms of scoring and stay away from bad teams. Good teams normally have good skill position players. Like Fournette in Jax, stay away from him but someone like Freeman in Atl is a good choice. My only issue is picking a TE not named Gronk
8/7/2017 4:02:04 PM
yeah that write up was lame...but pretty typical of July/August fantasy stuff...just get clicks as people try to cram for their drafts. especially on stuff like "underrated/overrated players".
8/7/2017 5:17:17 PM
Probably too early for this, but I'll list my typical first question. Which players would you keep? Any 3 that were on the roster. For Sure Keeping:OBJOther options (pick 2):Marcus MariotaMark IngramAmeer AbdullahEric DeckerPhilip RiversWill FullerJamaal CharlesThat's about it. Not a lot to choose from. Ingram would have been the safe choice (and maybe still is) but who knows what AP will be. Abdullah will probably get most of the work in Det, but like.. so what. Mariota might be good, but QBs aren't really valued in the first couple rounds unless you're Brady or Rodgers. Charles was put on there as a joke, unless something miraculous happens.I'll be picking 5th so I'll get one of Jordan Howard, Leonard Fournette, McCaffrey (don't think I want), Joe Mixon, Marshawn Lynch or maybe a Michael Thomas or Terelle Pryor.
8/7/2017 6:37:05 PM
Howard will be getting all the workload in Chicago likely. But what round did you get rivers in? He might be worth it, he's gonna chunk it.Fuller is out with an injury, eliminate him.[Edited on August 8, 2017 at 1:46 AM. Reason : d]
8/8/2017 1:45:15 AM
yeah outta those options, rivers or mariota might be the best bet i guess.i'm picking 5th in a 10 team 0.5 ppr league...most sites have OBJ ranked as #2 WR (behind Brown). but i think i prefer Julio Jones...unless one of the top 4 guys (Zeke, Brown, Bell, D. Johnson) fall to 5 in my draft, which i find fairly unlikely. what do y'all think about the #5 pick?
8/8/2017 6:31:33 AM
Zeke may fall if he gets that rumored suspension for a few games. Don't think you can wrong with Julio or OBJ, though I'm kinda intrigued by OBJ w/Marshall taking some attention away.
8/8/2017 8:21:33 AM
This is my first season working with keepers from previous, and I'm not sure who to keep. We are in a 3 keeper league (keep up to 3, not required), and basically I gutted my team at the end of last year to prep for this year.I'm keeping Julio and OBJ, but really need a RB. I picked up Lynch before he was signed to the Raiders, so he could be a keeper.Would you keep Lynch in the hopes that beast mode returns? Or only keep 2 and hope to snag a mid-tier RB in round 3?All of the main RBs are obviously gone due to a 10 team, 3 keeper league.
8/8/2017 8:43:42 AM
I am really strapped for time this year and will likely buy a mag and TRY to read it.What's your fav FF Mag for draft prep?
8/8/2017 9:01:20 AM
^^probably keep lynch and then try to get some insurance in the draft as well. but what's your format with keepers and draft picks? like, which draft picks will you lose by keeping lynch?
8/8/2017 10:34:29 AM
^ The first 3 rounds of the draft are your three keepers. So if I keep Lynch, OBJ and Julio that's pick 1, 2, and 3. If I only keep 2, then round 3 I would be able to pick whoever. Including Lynch if he's still available.
8/8/2017 10:51:36 AM
Does everyone really expect Lynch to come back and be good? How many RBs have retired and came back and had a meaningful season except maybe Ricky Williams? Feels like this will be the draft of the rookie RBs. So many rookie RBs sit atop depth charts on their teams right now.
8/8/2017 11:24:45 AM
^ his ADP is around 209...right behind Fournette. I think everyone is bullish because of oakland's line.
8/8/2017 11:29:32 AM
^^^i wouldn't keep lynch with if it's taking away a 3rd round draft pick.
8/8/2017 12:35:39 PM
Oakland's offensive line is legit, but I don't know what Marshawn's usage is going to be like. I'd rather take a flyer on a rookie running back most likely.
8/8/2017 12:56:48 PM
especially in a keeper league where he might be your guy for 3-4 years
8/8/2017 1:41:05 PM
^ Actually I think keeper is being taken away after this season. So this is the last keeper season for this league.
8/8/2017 2:15:23 PM
that's silly, keepers are vital to a long lasting league.
8/10/2017 11:15:20 AM
Not really
8/10/2017 11:27:35 AM
Depends on league size and keeper rules. I like keepers for larger leagues and long-lasting leagues(multiple years where you're not swapping people out of the league). I also don't care for standard 1-keeper leagues where it's just your 1st round pick. I prefer multiple keepers and preferably value-based keeper leagues. Currently in 2 value-based keeper leagues so it really benefits to take flyers on guys and draft rookies late. Picked up David Johnson as a rookie. Nice to keep him for a late round pick 2 years in a row.
8/10/2017 3:21:05 PM
it all depends.one league i'm in does no keepers and has had very few changes in owners over the years and it's been a strong, active league for 10+ years now. the other league i'm in is a keeper league and it's pretty active and strong for ~5 years. both leagues are fun and both are different. way more factors go into making a league fun and long-lasting than keepers. i'd argue it's almost exclusively about having active owners that you're friends with or can become friends with.
8/10/2017 4:13:05 PM
My draft is this weekend. I hate my friend for always holding it so damn early because invariably somebody I draft gets hurt in training camp or in the first or second preseason game. This is actually late for him this year, usually we are doing it the first week of August.2016 - Romo2015 - Arian Foster2013 - Maclin2011 - Manning (Risky pick by me, but when I drafted him people were saying he'd only miss a game or two)
8/10/2017 4:27:01 PM
Zeke out for 6 games unless an appeal reduces itSammy Watkins to the Rams, Jordan Matthews to Buffalo
8/11/2017 7:15:40 PM
People on my do not draft list: Zeke, Sammy Watkins.Playing with Jared Goff is gross.[Edited on August 11, 2017 at 7:55 PM. Reason : Update, I would draft Elliot, but not until the middle rounds. He's out >half my reg season]
8/11/2017 7:53:30 PM
Need to figure out my keepers. PPR. Here is list and round they would count toward if I keep. Can keep up to 3:Newton - R5(likely keeping)Snead - R8Murray - R1Rob Kelley - R10Rivers - R4Gabriel - R10Derick Henry - R4Hunter Henry - R10Smallwood - R10LaFell - R10Abdullah - R5I pick 3rd so doubt I'll keep Murray as I don't think I want him as my 1st pick at 3.
8/12/2017 8:08:44 AM
I'd probably go Cam, Snead and either Hunter Henry or Abdullah
8/12/2017 8:35:50 AM
got my draft this weekend. i pick 5. 0.5 PPR. i'm guessing i'll be taking Julio Jones or Odell Beckham. i'd prefer Jones, but i'm guessing he will go at #4, especially if ODB's ankle injury is still on people's radar. last i saw, ODB might miss week 1...i'd still draft him anyways. but do y'all have any thoughts on the 5 spot? Bell, Brown, Johnson will be gone for sure...who would y'all be hoping for at 5?
8/23/2017 12:20:55 PM
CamL. Bell (2nd overall pick)Fournette WoodheadB. CooksD. HopkinsM. BennettPanthers D/STSea-bassTyreek HillDesean JacksonJames WhiteDuke JohnsonCorey DavisFunchess OJ Howard
9/4/2017 12:21:01 PM
^^ I suspect it will be Johnson, Bell, Brown, then Julio. Ive seen some experts talk about Mike Evans in the 5 spot instead of ODB. Evans was the #2 WR in standard scoring last year (behind Jordy Nelson) without having a complementary receiver to help draw coverage. Thought is that D Jax will help clear some space for Evans this year. [Edited on September 4, 2017 at 12:25 PM. Reason : a]
9/4/2017 12:25:03 PM
Yeah I like Evans a lot.

That's not the only place you screwed up lol
9/4/2017 1:52:59 PM
i'll drop Lewis for a kicker, then we'll see

1. (8) LeSean McCoy (Buf - RB)2. (13) Jordan Howard (Chi - RB)3. (28) Tom Brady (NE - QB)4. (33) Terrelle Pryor Sr. (Was - WR)5. (48) Allen Robinson (Jax - WR)6. (53) Larry Fitzgerald (Ari - WR)7. GAME WEEK!pick 3 WR (we get return yardage points):Antonio Brown @ ClevelandAllen Robinson @ HoustonBrandon Marshall @ DallasTed Ginn @ MinnesotaKevin White vs. AtlWas thinking top 3, but the return yardage boosts Ginn's projections above Robinson/Marshall
9/5/2017 12:19:49 PM
Yeah, Ginn is also a good play bc Snead is suspendedAs for your 3rd, I would go Marshall, esp if OBJ is limited
9/5/2017 12:34:43 PM
Will be interesting to see what they do with this TB/MIA game and how it'll effect fantasy. If it's postponed to week 11 that would be curveball week 1. Sounds like Friday or neutral site is the only other viable option.

^^^BrownMarshallGinn[Edited on September 5, 2017 at 1:55 PM. Reason : a]
9/5/2017 1:55:39 PM
So my wrs week 1 are OBJ, Alshon, Kevin White, Jarvis Landry, DeSean Jackson, Mike Williams, John Ross, and Cameron Meredith. We have an IR spot so I'm not losing anything, but 5 of them won't play this week, maybe 6 if OBJ doesn't lol[Edited on September 6, 2017 at 9:27 AM. Reason : ~]
9/6/2017 9:27:14 AM
Who should I trade Cutler for (Luck is my #1 qb), since the game is postponed?Bortles, Flacco, Glennon, Smith?
9/6/2017 11:08:35 AM
They're probably all gonna need to throw a lot, but I wouldn't trust Alex Smith probably..I'd go Flacco I think.
9/6/2017 11:35:33 AM
^^^jeeeez lolwhat y'all think about WR3? allen robinson (@HOU), tyler lockett (@GB), donte moncrief (@LAR). 0.5 ppr, and 0.05 points per return yard (20 yards = 1 point). i feel like lockett is the choice here since return yards are in play...especially with luck out for moncrief. allen robinson was, i think, my 4th round pick but i really just hate their QB situation to put much faith in him...especially week 1.[Edited on September 6, 2017 at 11:43 AM. Reason : ^^i think flacco]
9/6/2017 11:43:02 AM
lockett. moncrief is awful (esp. in ppr as he's really td dependent) even with luck. robinson is useless until the jags get a non-terrible qb (but still a better play than moncrief.)
9/6/2017 6:00:49 PM
Any thoughts of Josh Gordon. Couple of rumors that he could be reinstated late September. I realize he could be traded, take several weeks to get up to speed, or not be in 'football shape', but is anyone else taking a chance on holding a guy to get a top 20 WR?https://www.dawgsbynature.com/2017/9/4/16251476/lets-talk-more-about-this-josh-gordon-rumor
9/6/2017 6:25:40 PM
He's on my watch list, just in case I somehow see the little news thing before it's national news or whatever. But even if he was, I would need an injury or something to pick him up.
9/6/2017 6:45:42 PM
brandon marshall, eric decker or adam thielen, who ya got (no ppr)
9/6/2017 8:09:09 PM
i'd go marshall
9/7/2017 6:51:46 AM
Looking for some input...10-team ppr league.I have Eddie Lacy at the end of a long line of mediocre running backs. I see Jamaal Charles sitting in free-agency and feel like he'll eventually take over the starting position in Denver assuming he stays healthy (big assumption, I know). Do I drop Lacy and pick-up Charles in hopes that he returns to stud-form and can be a solid RB2 for me? Or do I hang on to Lacy in hopes he becomes running-back-by-committee chairman in Seattle? From what I've read, Rawls is the preferred starter there, but he has glass bones, so I'm not high on him, even though he's sitting in free-agency as well.Thoughts?
