We just got one in Charleston and I checked it out the other day...can't really figure it out.

Prices are low...but so is selection. What's the advantage of Aldi over other grocery stores?

For the record, we have a Super Wal-Mart, Trader Joes, Harris Teeter, and Whole Foods within a mile or two of each other. Now an Aldi is in the same area. I load up on wine at Trader Joes, cheap brand products at Wal-Mart, and meats and veggies at either WF or HT. I don't like going to so many places, but they're all relatively close and give me a good deal on price and selection. We're about a year away from having a massive new Publix within walking distance from my house...so until then, I'll keep hitting up the multiple stores.

So back to...what's so great about Aldi?

Yeah we went there maybe twice. It's cool that it's cheap, but a couple of the things I ate actually taste a lot worse than the normal stuff we buy, whether that's HT brand or actual name brand or whatever. Got some cheap knock-off mustard though, that seems alright..

WE get some produce and some other essentials there. Very cheap and usually decent quality.

But we have to go to other grocery stores to get other stuff, so it takes more time. Luckily, I don't do much of our grocery shopping.

Yeah my parents love their produce and aldi brand cereals (which is the one thing growing up that we never bought store brand.)

I don't go to Aldi a lot but when I do, I've found the produce prices to be cheaper than other grocery stores.

But they don't have a lot of produce selection.

produce prices/quality are usually pretty good, but I don't go much. too many other stores closer for me.
