Rolling Stones. How could one even argue otherwise?
6/8/2017 9:36:02 PM
cause mick jagger caint sing all that great
6/8/2017 9:41:09 PM
Nah that an argument in their favor
6/8/2017 9:49:27 PM
if having a terrible lead singer makes you better, then Rush is obviously the best.but it's Zep
6/8/2017 9:57:39 PM
I love Page but Keef is way cooler. Jagger is the best front man ever, period.
6/8/2017 10:25:19 PM
linkin park, obviously
6/8/2017 10:46:31 PM
Paging vinylbandit to tell everyone they are wrong.
6/8/2017 11:10:26 PM
Stones are the best hands down. But vinylbandit will show up and say the stooges. Which is also correct.
6/8/2017 11:23:51 PM
I'm gonna go with the Stones. But only because the Beatles aren't really a rock band.
6/9/2017 12:26:52 AM
You totally misspelled Evanescence!
6/9/2017 12:32:37 AM
Tool. Easily.
6/9/2017 3:01:39 AM
Rock n roll band, everybody's waaaaitin'
6/9/2017 5:42:55 AM
Y'all don't even get it. You can say Zep, the Stones, the Stooges, whatever you want, like a bunch of children who glimpse a woman's curves but don't--and cannot--know her mysteries. I'll invoke the spirit of vinylbandit and hip you to the fact of the thing:IT'S FUCKING AC/DC
6/9/2017 5:54:36 AM
Led Zeppelin and its not even close
6/9/2017 6:55:05 AM
What are we basing our criteria on? Personal preference? Records sold? Single best selling record? Doesn't the latter still go to the Eagles? I think the most records sold goes to the Beatles, but like someone else said I don't consider them rock. Next up by the numbers is Led Zeppelin. But then you've got to figure, those guys have had what, 50 years to sell records. Metallica is still selling records, but any new releases - how are "units" defined these days? In 1968, you had to purchase an entire album, which had anywhere from 10 to 15 songs on it. Now, you just buy the songs you like, so you're not buying the entire album. How does the recording industry accommodate for that with modern bands?Although let's be honest with ourselves. We haven't had a real rock band emerge since the early 90's.
6/9/2017 7:55:57 AM
Check out the fucking old guy.
6/9/2017 8:03:31 AM
Led Zepplin sucks
6/9/2017 8:42:45 AM

6/9/2017 8:43:28 AM
At least they aren't thieves and liars.
6/9/2017 8:49:14 AM
Kid rock and Joe C.[Edited on June 9, 2017 at 9:12 AM. Reason : .]
6/9/2017 9:10:28 AM
^^Is Michael Glapion a rock star now?
6/9/2017 9:46:15 AM
it's the Beatles. they basically shaped the culture of a generation of people and changed music in numerous ways.
6/9/2017 10:08:44 AM
The Beatles are a great band for people who don't actually like rock and roll. The Beatles are to rock and roll as the Black Eyed Peas are to hip-hop.
6/9/2017 10:29:53 AM
6/9/2017 10:39:56 AM
They were THE pop artists of their time, what do you expect me to say? If they came out today, they'd be played on g105. There isn't much on g105 I consider rock. And I'm sure by musical definition their considered rock, but they aren't the first band that comes to mind when someone asks me what rock bands I like.
6/9/2017 10:47:05 AM
6/9/2017 10:59:36 AM
^^ they are the definition of rockit's absurd to play the "if they started in 2017" gameyou listed the Eagles, for fucks sake
6/9/2017 11:14:21 AM
rj seems like a nice guy, why you so mean to him?
6/9/2017 11:16:25 AM
I'd call out anybody for saying that the Beatles aren't rocklisten to the last half of Abbey Road and tell me that's not rock
6/9/2017 11:22:46 AM
The Beatles are rock of course. I think the Stones did it better and obviously have the longevity that the Beatles nor Zep had.
6/9/2017 11:29:00 AM
I recently re-watched "Ladies & Gentlemen: The Rolling Stones". It's pretty amazing.
6/9/2017 12:04:56 PM
close your eyes and try to imagine something sadder than fucking to the beatles
6/9/2017 1:22:24 PM

6/9/2017 8:17:13 PM
6/9/2017 9:10:22 PM
^^^I'd add Cage the Elephant to that group.
6/9/2017 9:25:25 PM
6/9/2017 9:32:01 PM
^^yeah, i almost mentioned them. There are a few others....but there has been nothing remotely comparable, like within an order of magnitude or two, of Nirvana/AiC/Soundgarden/Pearl Jam/STP/Foo Fighters/Tool, or Mötley Crüe/Van Halen/Dire Straits/GnR/Metallica/REM/Iron Maiden, or Springsteen/Stones/Pink Floyd/Aerosmith/Lynyrd Skynyrd, or Jimi Hendrix/Led Zeppelin/Doors/Grateful Dead/Beatles.We are over 2 decades removed from a great, hot new rock band coming on the scene, as best as I can think of. I mean, nobody younger than their early 30s knows what that's even like!Even the "successful" bands of the last 20 years, aside from mostly being mediocre...how many people could even name or recognize the members of the band? Hell, most of them, I recognize the songs on the radio, but I couldn't name them, and many times, couldn't match the songs and the artists, haha.[Edited on June 9, 2017 at 10:33 PM. Reason : ^^^^^ Radiohead, not very rock-ish to begin with for the most part, is from the early 90s, dude]
6/9/2017 10:32:14 PM
The new rock stars are rappers mostly, and DJs to a lesser extent. We don't have to like it, but that's the reality.
6/9/2017 10:54:36 PM
6/10/2017 12:05:15 AM
^yeah, not sure wtf rappers or DJs have to do with this
6/10/2017 12:14:32 AM
Stones, Stooges, AC/DC are all good answersSabbath is a good answerThin Lizzy is a good answerLed Zeppelin is not a good answer
6/10/2017 1:32:16 AM
6/10/2017 2:51:13 AM
^^ there's a difference between "best" and "greatest".Iggy and the Stooges and Thin Lizzy are awesome, but not in the running for "greatest". I think it's gotta be the Stones.(And what's wrong with Led Zep?)
6/10/2017 10:45:13 AM
You can't even be in the running for greatest rock and roll band if you don't have at least one song that is about rock and roll in your body of work.
6/10/2017 10:53:33 AM
Stones win
6/10/2017 11:44:40 AM
