I'm from Goldsboro. Everyone from there knows about this, it seems to randomly pop up in the news fairly often.

It made wide-spread national news not too long ago again because an old document was released showing how close it came to exploding.

One a side note- I do wish someone would submit it to Mysteries at the Museum, be a cool story to see on there.

It didn't come close to exploding. I'm pretty sure there was a whole thread a few years ago discussing that.

Saying it almost detonated is like saying you almost hit a home run if you went up to the plate without a bat.
