beating down some protesters here in DC earlier this week?https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/us-turkey-spar-over-erdogan-visit-violence-kurdish-support/2017/05/18/9b795620-3c18-11e7-a59b-26e0451a96fd_story.html?utm_term=.c9701f5a30c7Come on, my bros. This was on American soil, where we have a constitutional right to protest. Some of those beaten down were definitely U.S. citizens.

It's unbelievable that those thugs weren't rolled up and thrown in jail and/or immediately sent out of the country.
5/19/2017 9:46:33 AM
Yeah...I guess that's part of the problem. From what I heard, the DC police would step in and stop Erodogan's security detail from literally beating people on the ground with a stick, but that's about it. Local government (and others) also vow to brings these people to justice....but it's likely everyone was back on an airplane to Turkey later that day.So, I guess it now comes down to the state department. Oh, guess what... our administration is trying to play nice with Turkey right now

Fascists gonna fash.
5/22/2017 12:05:28 PM
Really? We're going to do this again?
5/22/2017 1:11:09 PM
It's disgusting and anybody who defends it is a fascist (Earl is a troll and a fascist)
5/22/2017 1:25:26 PM
the guy in the yellow shirt that you posted a picture of was an Erdogan supporter that was hit in the head with a bullhorn or a flag by one of the Kurdish protesters, before Erdogan's security detail got involved in the second skirmish. What I don't understand is why DC police let protesters congregate 50 feet from the president of another country and then only tried to hold back the Turkish supporters after the first violent skirmish broke out and was subdued (which didn't involve the security detail.) If DC police had arrested the Kurdish protesters after the first violent incident or at least made them leave the premises, Erdogan's security detail may not have taken matters into their own hands.[Edited on May 22, 2017 at 1:46 PM. ^how do you know the guy in yellow is a Erdogan supporter?and second, you're saying he was just a supporter, right? Not part of the security detail? So the erdogan supporters still shouldn't have attacked american citizens because one american citizen attacked another american citizen, right? It sounds like you're defending the action of these fascist thugs. You seem to do that a lot.and maybe you can tell something from that video, but from a quick view, I can't what's going on. DO you know what you're saying is fact, or are you just making assumptions that fit your narrative?[Edited on May 22, 2017 at 2:01 PM. Reason : ]

you explain why the guy in the yellow shirt gets hit in the head with a bullhorn by one of the protesters that then proceeds to run to the opposite side of the street from the embassy, and why the security detail pulls the guy in the yellow shirt back over to the embassy side before checking his wounds? Do you think Erdogan would have an undercover security detail wearing the most obnoxiously loud yellow T-shirt so that he could blend in with the peasants? Maybe, but I wouldn't consider it likely. If you go back and read my post, I said nothing defending the actions of Erdogan's security detail. I made reference to how the anti-Erdogan protesters turned violent BEFORE the security force got involved, and how DC police failed to handle the situation after the first violent confrontation. WaPo and CNN trying to blame this all on Erdogan is a complete misrepresentation of facts captured on video. The video I posted shows the security detail not getting involved until about the 2:50 mark, despite the video starting out showing violence between two civilian groups and the botched police response.
5/22/2017 2:15:04 PM
I'm not saying that what you're saying didn't happen, but at the beginning of the video, I just see the guy in yellow knock one guy to the ground, then start throwing punches at another guy.

First off, it should not be surprising to anyone that there may have been opposing groups of protesters. That happens literally all the time. During the women's march, there was a big group of anti-abortion protesters. During BLM marches, there are always small groups of white nationalist protesters. In this situation, there were pro- and anti-Erdogan protestors. Rarely is there violence of this nature.Second off, the police here are local DC police, who acted like fucking saints in this situation. DC police are used to protesters, and by and large will try to send you on your way before arresting you for minor shit. I would imagine some of the local police felt as if they were possibly under conflicting orders here. I mean, I'm sure they were there to provide additional crowd control security for Erdogan's detail.... but not necessarily 'backup'. The other side of that coin is they're still local DC police, charged with protecting and serving all people in this country.Lastly, I don't know how anyone can watch the video and NOT see that Erdogan's security detail was the aggressor. The anti-Erdogan protesters were literally chased from their position, and were beaten across a field.Everything above this line in this post is besides the fucking point:==============================================================Why the fuck is a foreign leader's security detail doing anything other than bodyguarding the leader? Erdogan was across the lot watching from afar. Why the fuck is a foreign leader's security detail getting involved in local police affairs? That's the job of the police. Why the fuck is a foreign leader's security detail beating ANYONE, resisting police orders to stand down and go back, pushing the police, etc??

you cannot watch that video and say that one side was the aggressor and the other was not. I know you're claiming such, but that video clearly shows two aggressive factions.Al Jazeera is reporting that DC Police refused Turkish demands to intervene and remove the protesters after the first violent skirmish, so Erdogan ordered his security force to do so. Apparently two of the people injured in the initial skirmish were Secret Service agents.

public sidewalksyou can protest there, without permit, if you have fewer than 100 people
5/22/2017 6:24:27 PM
Turkey is hyper polarized right now, like a lot of the world, so scuffles between protestors isn't too surprising. Police probably could have shut it down then, but thought it was fairly minor in the beginning and "clearing" protestors makes for unusually bad scenes on the teevee. I'm guessing the cops and Erdogan weren't interested in that. What blew the situation up is that Erdogan (and I'm sure all his security) is hyper-sensitive right now. Not long ago protests in his country were post his near assassination (allegedly). Someone there couldn't stand the "enemy" brazenly yelling and jumped the gun.[Edited on May 22, 2017 at 7:31 PM. well, the DC police issued warrants for members of Erdogans security detail.https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/dc-police-issue-warrant-for-12-turkish-security-personnel-involved-in-embassy-brawl/2017/06/15/4472fae6-51be-11e7-b064-828ba60fbb98_story.html?sw_bypass=true&utm_term=.6be5ec801fdb
