It's the off season and I'm bored so let's try this. If you had to use Sid and Gott's players (2007-2017)...What's your traditional "all-decade" team in the sense of the best players from those 10 years? And what team would you actually put on the court that would play well together? (accounting for all of the intangibles too)

For sure on this All-Decade team - TJ Warren, Dennis Smith. The other three are debatable. Shit I don't know, it hasn't been a very good decade.I quickly went through the rosters of the last 10 years and made a list of notable playersGavin GrantBrandon CostnerDennis HornerTracy SmithJJ HicksonScott WoodRichard HowellCJ LeslieLorenzo BrownTJ WarrenTrevor LaceyCat BarberAbdul-Malik AbuDennis SmithThat's pretty much the cream of the crop. Engin Atsur misses the cutoff by a season. For a team that could actually play together? DSJ, Warren, Lacey, Wood, Howell. Brown, Leslie, Costner, T. Smith and TYLER GODDAMN LEWIS off the bench.]

I don't care who's on the list as long as this thread has this image in it:
3/29/2017 4:22:36 PM
TJ won POY and had multiple 40 pt games, not sure you can ask a whole lot more from a college player
3/29/2017 4:23:46 PM
potential doesn't equal wasted potential
3/29/2017 4:26:16 PM
Ok I'll drop it
3/29/2017 4:27:22 PM
Barber's *junior* year wasn't better than DSJ's freshman year. Barber was a volume scorer on a bad team. He got accolades for leading the ACC in scoring because he was the only guy who shot the ball.
3/29/2017 4:27:59 PM
Can you even make a lineup with 5 NBA players from this "era"? Even thinking about this is mostly painful.
3/29/2017 4:28:17 PM
yeah, Horner, Hickson, Warren, Brown, Smith. BOOM.

I think it should be well understood that Wood, TJ and Zo have to start on this team. Their accomplishments both as a team and individually surpass everybody else from this decade.
3/29/2017 4:49:03 PM
I think it's well understood that you have no idea what the fuck you're talking about
3/29/2017 4:55:21 PM
Sorry. Wood was a defensive liability on a team that was below average defensively. Unbelievable shooter, but that's about it. There is a reason that JJ Redick and Kyle Korver have 1 all-star team (in a weak east) in the 20+ years of combined careers.
3/29/2017 4:55:25 PM
yeah Wood was great at free throws and could definitely knock down pretty much any open look on 3s but we had to do a lot to get him those looks and he was definitely lacking in defense. Excellent role guy to have on your bench but I think there are better starters at SG or even moving PGs to play that role at SG better as a whole
3/29/2017 5:02:51 PM
I should have said my team was semi trying to form a team, not a superlative team. Need a Scott Wood on that team.
3/29/2017 5:03:07 PM
^^^ Wood isn't close to being as good as either Redick or Korverno real use in bringing them up as comps
3/29/2017 5:32:19 PM
5 best, no consideration for positionTJW, Cat, DSJ, Lacey, Howell...that would probably be my top 5. but if you're taking into account positions (which i think was what ncsuallday had in mind) mine would probably bePG - DSJSG - LaceySF - WoodPF - TJWC - HowellIf I was trying to field the best team, I might swap Lacey for Zo. that might give this team some semblance of defense and allow DSJ to play off the ball some. but if we're basing this solely off each player's best season, then I put Lacey over Zo. or you could go big and put TJW at SF, CJL at PF and drop Wood out. that's a tough call.2nd teamPG - CatSG - Zo SF - Turner or CJ Williams depending on your preference for shooting vs defensePF - CJLC - JJ Hickson[Edited on March 29, 2017 at 5:37 PM. Reason : man, hard to leave Tracy Smith off, but i think i gotta go Hickson over him. ][Edited on March 29, 2017 at 5:39 PM. Reason : g]

3/29/2017 5:37:11 PM
Wood started on the only team team we've had that has been even marginally defensively. He wasn't good, no, but he did try and when he got beat he'd make a fair number of recovery blocks. He's probably 6th man by talent though he'd probably start since you only need so many scorers
3/29/2017 5:44:07 PM
Cat Barber is the third best point guard we've had the last 10 years and if you're making a hypothetical team, he wouldn't be on it because TJ Warren didn't want to play with him.
3/29/2017 5:54:28 PM
what is our "all-decade name team"? got some strong optionsCat Barber, Chris Brickhouse, Staats Battle, Beejay Anya, Abdul Malik Abu, Torin Dorn, Omer Yurtseven, Maverick Rowan, Chase Cannon, Farnold Degand. Engin Atsur might make the cut off, or maybe he missed it by a year.

3/29/2017 6:39:29 PM
1. DSJ2. Lorenzo Brown3. Cat BarberAnd it's common knowledge that TJ Warren wanted to play with Tyler Lewis instead of Cat Barber. It's the only reason Barber didn't play as much as a freshman and Lewis stuck around for his sophomore year.If we're making a team "that would play well together" you're not going to put the third best PG on it when the best player on said team doesn't want to play with him.]

In regards to Wood if the question was to build the best team to go win a game with players from the last 10 years you might include him, his ability to stretch the court and hit open 3s would be useful. However if you are just talking about the best overall player at each position and a pure "all-star" team, I think we have had better SF than him that could shoot similarly but do much more on the court.
