while it's cool a big manufacturer would build such a thing, it looks like you're paying an upcharge from the hellcat for marketing, a badge, and less stuff. 200lbs lighter on a 4500lbs car doesn't mean much.

wears 315 width tires all around... looks insane! don't know any other car that has such wide tires all around.

check out the spy shots here to see how crazy those 315s look at the front

I'll serve smoothcrim some crow if....(e-speculation)

...it comes with awd
....it comes with a bigger supercharger
....it comes with higher boost

if so... a 4% lighter hellcat with awd, fattie-boom-battie tires, MORE power ....

well worth the 'upcharge'

well if it has all those things, then yeah, rock on, I don't know how it could do worse than 9s. sounds like a hellcat srt8 jeep in car form. im doubting there are many folks that'd drop the 70+k such a car would cost though. it'd have to be a VERY low volume car.

Quote :
"Here’s a detailed breakdown of how the Demon went on a diet in its evolution from its Hellcat sibling:

4 pounds, manual tilt/telescope steering wheel
2 pounds, removed parking sensors
16 pounds, 18x11-inch aluminum wheels with open lug nuts
18 pounds, removed 23 NVH components (it’s going to be loud)
19 pounds, smaller diameter, hollow sway bar (front went from 34 mm solid to 29 mm hollow, rear went from 22 mm solid to 19 mm hollow)
24 pounds, removed all speakers except front door speakers
16 pounds, new aluminum brakes: 2-piece, 4-piston Brembos (went from 390 mm diameter to 360 mm)
55 pounds, removed rear seats
58 pounds, removed front passenger seat
20 pounds, removed trunk lining and spare tire/wheel"

If drastic measures like removing all seats (except driver) and removing (almost all) speakers had to be taken to lower a vehicle's weight by 4-5% that's pretty sad in my opinion.

Also if all those measures end up being facts then I would assume the market for this car to be extremely limited.

Latest info indicates it's not awd -

If the Demon is meant to specialize in drag racing then deleting the spare from the factory seems kinda dumb to me. When you get to the strip you're just going to take out the tire yourself anyway.

Plenty of cars not coming with spares now. Test drove a new Acura a few months back. You get a can of tire slime and a 12v compressor with it.

^^^^ the temporary tire itself for a full size car is going to weigh 15-20 lbs, plus the wheel. 18x5 skinnies still weigh 15-18lbs, so they must be going from having a spare (30-40lbs) to a pump and some slime.

CTS-V has an aluminum spare (apparently people like to use them as front runners) - not sure what that assembly would weigh but I would assume that could be possible.

Yeah that's pretty common knowledge. But most cars also aren't 4500 lb behemoths with plenty of room to package a spare tire - in this case probably even a fullsize spare.

My car has no spare, but that shouldn't surprise anyone.

i'm surprised to see any car without a spare. it's absolutely absurd, imo.

^it's actually pretty commonplace. I've also seen spares as options on the build-pages.

i realize it is common. i just think it's fucking stupid.

but i guess at least half the drivers out there wouldn't know what to do with a spare anyway, so between that and trying to meet federal mpg numbers, i guess i see the reasoning.

Most people will never need a spare, 90% of the people who do will just call AAA

I've needed one at least 4 times in my 13 years of driving. It's important to me to have one.

Yeah I think it's bullshit as well. But I'm somewhat understanding about it when talking about a 2 seat sports car. Less so when it's a 3500+ lb 4 door sedan. That's straight up BS, especially since it means your car probably came with shitty ass (and expensive) run flat tires.

My Cayman has no spare, just fix-a-flat & an air compressor. Hell, doesn't even have a jack.

Tell me about it. My car doesn't exactly have common sized tires either.

Eh, I've needed/used spares also but most modern cars can leave you stranded with a million different failures, a flat tire is just one of them. I'm honestly surprised they come with a fix a flat. Do cars even come with decent tools, fuses, etc. anymore? Why should they, there's too much to break, and need a computer to start diagnosing, why only cover your bases for a flat tire?
