Sorry to hear about your job situation... Hopefully you can find something nice with some good PTO and stuff.

When I got laid off I started a side business... that's the only way I have made any "real" money online. Back in high school I hustled auctions at 6AM on Saturdays and sold items on Craigslist and Ebay. But it's hard among all the cheap crap to make that work these days unless you can do furniture or something niche.

In college I did the grind on Amazon Mechanical Turk. But you're competing with people online in libraries in a part of the world where a penny for 10 minutes of work makes fiscal sense. Also there are SUPER shady businesses on there having you scrape data and jump through hoops and click this and that -- you've got to be selective. But... I learned how to use PERL there. If you can find something that has several thousand HITs available and can write a script to drastically reduce your workload you can make some bucks.

Sometimes you gotta grind it out. Get a little capital, turn it into more, etc etc. I try to avoid loans and leverage as much as possible.

But if you've got time and need money, there's work everywhere.

Started my first "business" while I was an attendant at a laser wash. $5 to clean wheels, $5 to vacuum.
