It's an isolating experience when you're in a larger group like that.

And I always regret my behavior afterwards, like whatever meanish remarks I made or stupid comments I put in just so I wasn't completely silent for a two-hour dinner.

I'm the single person, too. So people wanna be polite and bring me in the conversation: "So...Bridget...you excited about the new Fast and Furious movie?"

"Oh yeah! Totally. Very excited." And then I realize I've gone too far--everybody's going to know I'm an asshole.
