yes: no bull bar at all.

this does nothing except make minor fender benders more likely to cause more damage and make your truck look like its from 15 years ago when these were in style
12/7/2016 12:51:41 PM
get some steel and make something
12/7/2016 6:54:10 PM
^ i don't have any presses or benders^^ more damage to which vehicle
12/7/2016 11:45:49 PM
waste of money

even the rednecks aren't using these things anymore

^^ I was wondering how they crumpled, couldn't find any pics of the mounting mechanism. Seems like a problem they could engineer around though. Okay you all have talked me out of it
12/8/2016 11:26:34 AM
^they are an aesthetic add-on, nothing more.what you are wanting is an actual structural bumperhttps://www.google.com/search?q=tacoma+tube+bumper&rls=com.microsoft:en-US:IE-Address&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiEsvbRn-XQAhUJllQKHTcfByUQsAQIaw&biw=1600&bih=805

thanks everyone, garage people are the greatestI'm leaning towards this one now:http://store.arbusa.com/ARB-Deluxe-Bar-Toyota-Tacoma-2005-11-3423130-P3661.aspx

the only disadvantage with ARB bumpers is that they never have recovery points on their bumpers because it wouldn't pass their australian crash rating. the advantage though is that they claim to be airbag safe.Does the tacoma have factory recovery points on the front? if so its not an issue
12/17/2016 11:45:43 AM
The Tacoma does have them, for another model bumper you have to remove the passenger side point to install the bumper, but supppsdly the driver side one is not removable. being airbag safe gave me some confidence they've put some extra thought into the design.

ARB is quality, a lot of their bumpers also allow you to remove the winch without needing to remove the bumper which is a nice feature (not sure if this one doe). i'm not the hugest fan of their styling, but arb makes a really quality product.plus you'll get some ARB stickers, if you pair those with some Yeti stickers its like +100 cool points
12/17/2016 4:19:59 PM
Just keep the extra weight from an ARB in mind
12/17/2016 7:54:35 PM
^ i was wondering about that. Makes me think i need to get the front/rear as a pair to keep things "balance" assuming it's proportionally weighted.
12/18/2016 12:07:30 AM
just get heavier springs
12/18/2016 11:33:22 AM
what is the goal here?
12/18/2016 2:32:47 PM
Ha, it has shifted as you all have educated me.It was just for a better way to recover myself/others if slippery roads put me in a tough spot. Then i saw a friend post pictures of him off roading around Raleigh somewhere so it seemed useful if i went with him for that. I also am thinking about getting a new car soon but this truck is in 100% working condition, which makes the off roading thing more likely since I don't feel so bad about potentially beating the truck up.So i have no clear goal, just learning about a new "thing".
