Sale goes to Boston, not Washington.
12/6/2016 1:47:53 PM
BoSox get their ace pitcher on a great contract.ChiSox get the supposed #1 prospect in all of MLB, 3B Yoan Moncado, plus Boston's #4 prospect RHP Michael Kopech, among other guys.Win win for both? As a closet White Sox fan, I say ... maybe? Who the hell knows, but they were going nowhere next year with or without Sale. Just glad they're finally in rebuild mode.
12/6/2016 2:23:23 PM
win/win
12/6/2016 3:06:43 PM
I guess the White Sox have no intentions on winning for the next 3 years? I get that they got an uber prospect, maybe two, but Sale is already a star on a very favorable deal for 3 more years. If he was a FA next year or something, I'd understand. Maybe management was just tired of Sale and his antics. I know he and Williams weren't exactly buddies.
12/7/2016 5:51:35 AM
they also have skinny panda now.
12/7/2016 8:38:03 AM
as a 3 year ticket season holder I say goodbye to chris sale

IF this is the year the Met pitchers get it together...1 Cubs2 Mets3 Dodgers4 Nats5 Giants1 Red Sox2 Astros3 Indians4 Rangers5 Blue Jays OR YankeesTo not look like a homer, I'm going to say Dodgers/Red Sox World Series. And because most of you won't be checking the Mets thread:
3/2/2017 9:17:04 PM
When I click on the Mets thread I get automatically redirected to an ESPN page. Is that happening for everyone else?
4/3/2017 3:30:57 PM
^ YesNeed aaronburro to start the 2017 Orioles thread. Guess I'm relegated to this one for now.[Edited on April 3, 2017 at 3:39 PM. Reason : new year, new thread]
4/3/2017 3:36:59 PM
yes
4/3/2017 3:37:35 PM
looks like the Mets thread has some shitty iframe coding that's causing the redirect. Need a mod to fix it.
4/3/2017 3:40:19 PM
Who runs ST these days?
4/3/2017 4:18:27 PM
Since I can't say so in the Mets thread at the moment...Great opening day for the Mets! Syndergaard is already in beast mode, but he was taken down by a blister on his thumb. 7k in 6 scoreless innings.I don't like that a pitcher who comes in for just 3 outs (and in many cases, just 1 or 2) can get credited for the win even though the pitcher who made it through 18 outs did most of the work. It's a strange stat assignment.
4/3/2017 4:40:33 PM
^ no its actually not. Noah didn't deserve a win anymore than Teheran did. Both did their job and the Braves pen imploded so some Mets RP got a W.
4/3/2017 9:31:28 PM
It's possible to have a terrible one-inning-outing and still get a win if your offense happens to pick you up the very next inning. Or blow a save and still get credited with a win. I like counting quality starts better, which both Teheran and Syndergaard had today.Teheran was fantastic, just inefficient with his pitch count.
4/3/2017 11:41:20 PM
I agree, but that is why they count quality starts now too. Wins are an obsolete stat for the most part. Sucks that getting 20 season wins or 300 career wins are still important for awards/HOF, but that is obviously becoming less emphasized and will continue to be less important in pitcher evaluations. Baseball this year looks like it'll be a lot of shitty teams and some really good ones. Everyone trying to follow the Cubs/Astros model now.
4/4/2017 6:05:33 AM
^Same as last year, parody is dead for the time being. The Cubs' and Stros' success is a big part of it, but don't blame them entirely. They aren't the first teams to attempt to build this way, they just happened to do it really really well. (Incredible trades, picking the right players in the draft, etc..)TreeTwista10, your Twins will probably rule the shitter again, but don't be surprised if your boy Sano leads the majors in homers.
4/4/2017 8:40:22 AM
parity
4/4/2017 11:32:50 AM
Lol , damn.
4/4/2017 12:56:29 PM
Thank goodness the 90's Yankees way of winning is mostly out the door (when the highest payroll won the championship). Since 2002, the year the Yankees stopped being an every-year WS team, only 5 teams (made up of just 2 clubs) have made the WS with a top-5 payroll. That's only 16%.2013 Red Sox #4 (won)2009 Yankees #1 (won)2007 Red Sox #2 (won)2004 Red Sox #2 (won)2003 Yankees #1 (lost to #25 Marlins)The Cubs were #6 in 2016, and the Giants #7 in 2014. But very few others were even in the top-10.This does not bode well for the Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, Blue Jays. The next 5 are Rangers, Giants, Cubs, Nationals, Orioles.[Edited on April 4, 2017 at 7:01 PM. Reason : -]

used my girlfriend's t-mobile account to get my free year of MLB.TV. what a game changer. It's awesome. Now i can watch the Braves and FS1 GotW on Fox Sports Go and everything else on MLB.tv. Only thing i'm missing is a stream of MLB Network. I just don't get why they wouldn't have that on the tv app. Seems like a no brainer.
4/5/2017 9:54:54 AM
Anyone know if the MLB.tv blackout restriction thing is lifted this year so we can watch Orioles/Nats games in Raleigh?
4/5/2017 11:14:50 AM
nope. Nats and O's are still considered in-market for most of NC.
4/5/2017 11:39:52 AM
Damn it. I know that some of the markets were going to be allowed in-market streaming on MLB.tv this year. Wasn't able to find anywhere with MASN listed though.
4/5/2017 12:18:38 PM
http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp#blackoutbased on this, Raleigh zip codes are still in the Nat's/O's blackout market. In Charlotte i'm cut out of those two, Cincy, and ATL.
4/5/2017 12:49:55 PM
GO TRIBE!!!!
4/5/2017 5:22:25 PM
Cleveland looks strooonnngg.
4/5/2017 5:38:35 PM
Haven't really looked in a few years as I am about as apathetic as I am with the hurricanes and hornets now...but where can I watch Braves Baseball? I have direct tv and unlimited streaming with ATT since I have direct tv. Thanks
4/6/2017 1:28:35 AM
are you in North Carolina? Fox Sports South and Fox Sports Go App.
4/6/2017 1:19:40 PM
RIP Trea. NC State shit knows no bounds. Seriously though I don't know how serious his injury is. Let's hope it's nothing.
4/8/2017 9:34:05 PM
Anybody doing Fantasy Baseball this year? I'm in my 3rd year with a group of 12. We use fantrax.com after the drafting of players on ESPN and leaguesafe.com for fees
4/9/2017 7:49:21 AM
It usually takes me about 6 weeks in to stop paying attention, so I stopped signing up.
4/9/2017 2:43:28 PM
I'm watching this thing on 60 Minutes on Shohei Otani. Seems like he'll be legit when he gets to the US. I doubt he'll have Ichiro's batting average, but he's got a lot of power and is a good pitcher.]
4/9/2017 8:48:41 PM
yes to Fantasy. pretty solid team this year. I'm weak in the OF right now, but it's early.
4/10/2017 9:49:46 AM
During the 16th inning last night the Mets broadcasters were talking about how ridiculous the proposed start with 2-men on base rule for extra innings would be. I agree with them, but also feel like games which go on that long hurts both teams for the next day and makes it so many fans can't see it through to the end.Do you think MLB would ever start allowing ties? Call it at the end of 12?
4/14/2017 5:32:22 PM
5/8/2017 12:47:02 AM
this fucking game...
5/8/2017 1:52:52 AM
They really have to figure out a way to make this shit not last 6 fucking hours.
5/8/2017 8:13:25 AM
Starting in the 13th inning people have to pitch underhanded!
5/8/2017 3:35:58 PM
Each team should lose a field player per inning over 11.
5/8/2017 4:12:30 PM
Homerun derby shootout
5/8/2017 4:50:18 PM
Just tie. Who gives a shit. Sometimes you're equally as good. Anything else and you're messing with people's stats and that's not really fair in a sport that revolves around stats
5/8/2017 5:22:11 PM
^That's how I really feel. Play to 12, an entire extra 1/3 of a game, then call it.I'm not so worried about the stats (although I'm sure the players are), I'm more worried about health of the players, especially the bullpen. A 16th, 18th, or 23rd inning win is not worth losing several games afterwards because your team is tired.
5/8/2017 6:53:21 PM
^exactly, to turn around and play tonight sucks
5/8/2017 6:58:10 PM
maybe managers shouldn't pull a reliever after like 2 batters. that would solve the extra inning pitching issues.ties in baseball would be the dumbest thing ever.
5/8/2017 7:18:06 PM
almost as dumb as having 162 regular season games
5/8/2017 7:59:41 PM
^^ This.
