I was nearly decided on getting a 32GB iPad mini 2 for $200 (BF deal) from Walmart but I'll compare the two first. Thx.[Edited on November 20, 2016 at 2:31 PM. Reason : They seem identical outside of the fingerprint sensor on the 2]

What about 10” sizes or more?

^^ Yeah if you can get the mini 2 for that price I'd say get that. I have an iPad mini 2 that I use mostly for reading comics (which if you like comics Marvel Unlimited is an amazing service). The Mini 3 is just the one I see more often for sale these days.

Any recommendations for a cheap android in the 7-8" range?

if you don't need the play store, the kindle line is really cheap. I have a several year old HDX that's lighter, faster, and higher DPI than even current ipad airs
