Who's listening? I checked out all the videos at work yesterday, listening to the proper album now. Will reserve my thoughts on the album as a whole til I've listened a few more times, but some of these songs really are bad ass and exciting this lifelong fanAlso my wife may have been experiencing some labor symptoms last night and although I was hoping to have the sucker stay in there for another week, being born the same day as a Metallica album release would be more than acceptable

I'm listening to the album now but have checked out the videos over the past couple of days. I like most of them so far. Moth into Flame is my favorite of the early songs they released.Crazy how many music videos they released in a short period. This one is the best though:

Just got my digital download late last night. Haven't listened to a majority of the album yet, but have listened to Hardwired, Atlas Rise and Moth Into Flame numerous times before the official album release, and love all of them. In fact, I think Moth Into Flame might be one of my favorite Metallica songs of all time. Briefly listened to Now that We're Dead and Here Comes Revenge, and they both sounded very solid on initial listen. Will definitely be spending most of this weekend listening to the full album multiple time. Love that Metallica is still going strong!!

Definitely a good way to kick off a Friday - good stuff all around so far too.Lords of Summer struck me on a first listen [Edited on November 18, 2016 at 12:36 PM. Reason : [Edited on November 18, 2016 at 12:39 PM. Reason : missed that it was released as single in 2014..]

I watched the videos as they were coming out as well (mostly. didn't stay up all night or anything). Picked up the album this morning. I really like this album and now that I have been listening to it in the car while driving around today and can hear it on a proper stereo, I'm liking it even more. Moth into Flame and Halo on Fire are probably my early favorites[Edited on November 18, 2016 at 1:28 PM. Reason : w]

In case you haven't seen it:http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/entertainthis/2016/11/17/metallica-jimmy-fallon-the-roots-tonight-show-enter-sandman-classroom-instruments/94014416/I grew-up a big Metallica fan, had all the tapes, remember how excited I was when And Justice for All came out and went to the Record Bar to get the tape... got the Black album CD, wasn't too impressed and lost interest after that. Then Lars when on his Napster crusade, and they put out that documentary where they whined and cried and I lost any last respect I ever had for Lars, what a turd. And James is pretty whiney too.Sorry, just my two cents. I've heard some of this album is reminiscent of Kill 'Em All
11/18/2016 1:42:03 PM
This album melts face for sure.
11/18/2016 1:59:47 PM
I skimmed through the songs on youtube when I got home from work. It's not bad, but not the best Metallica I've ever heard either. Like Death Magnetic, I think this will be a decent listen nonetheless.

^lolI tried to work in James, Kirk, and Cliff into our baby name list. Did not work Spit Out the Bone is pretty bad ass. Just listened to it a couple of times.

Why won't these assholes play shows somewhere else than outside the US, California and on rare occasions, New York.[Edited on November 19, 2016 at 12:02 AM. Reason : I know the answer is "because they don't have to" but still ]
11/19/2016 12:01:28 AM
Yeah that has annoyed me too. They seem to play everywhere else except for most of CONUS. At least with the new album out they have confirmed they are doing a full tour next year.
11/19/2016 1:56:28 PM
I like the album more each time I listen to it. Hetfield's voice is killer. The videos really enhance the songs. They did an excellent job with them.Spit Out the Bone is fantasticHoly Shit Here Comes Revenge is awesome too[Edited on November 20, 2016 at 12:01 AM. Reason : .]

Is this album as good as St. Anger?
11/20/2016 2:01:14 PM
about 20 to 30 times better...
11/20/2016 6:55:32 PM
Picked it up yesterday. It's not as good as Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, and Justice For All...or even the "black album", for that matter. I haven't even made it all the way through Hardwired yet, but I'd say it's roughly in the same league as Death Magnetic, but without such fucking godawful production.Ride the Lightning, Master, Justice: genre-defining, holy shit, phenomenal top-tier metal albums of all time. A+"black album", Kill 'Em All: totally different albums obviously; neither on par with that top tier, but excellent albums in the grand scheme. A.Hardwired, Death Magnetic: good, solid, but not outstanding Metallica albums. Worth listening to, probably worth buying the albums; they're work that Metallica can be proud of, but definitely not what they're capable of. Caveat: the production on Death Magnetic is fucking garbage and seriously detracts from the album. B for Hardwired, B- for Death Magnetic (points deducted for production).Load/Reload: these are decent rock albums. I wouldn't even call them metal. If you're comparing them to 3 Doors Down or Breaking Benjamin or Volbeat or something, then...yeah, thank you Metallica for blessing rock radio with something, when there has been precious little worth a damn for this entire millennium to date. If you're judging them as part of the Metallica catalog, then they are mediocre efforts. C-St Anger: Jesus fucking Christ, what the fuck? Shitty everything. A complete embarrassment to every musician, producer, engineer, songwriter, and record exec who had a hand in it. Terrible. F. I would give it a "G" or an "H" if there was anything worse than "F".S&M, Lulu, Garage Inc, Beyond Magnetic: These don't really rate as full-fledged, normal studio LPs in my book, as part of the regular Metallica canon.S&M: pretty groundbreaking and well executed. Not the Metallica I want to listen to all the time, but definitely cool. A.For the others, they're some blend of haven't listened to enough, don't know what to make of them, or don't know how exactly to grade them.[Edited on November 20, 2016 at 8:30 PM. Reason : ]

I like the new album a lot actually and agree with most of the comments above. IMO, Halo on Fire kicks ass and hasn't really been mentioned yet.
11/22/2016 4:51:24 PM
^ agree ... I took larger notice while listening last night and the refrain near the end has been running through my head all day long

Every time I listen to this album I gain more appreciation for almost every song. As was already mentioned "Atlas, Rise!" and "Moth Into Flame" were clear winners, but I'm really loving "Halo on Fire", "ManUNkind", "Murder One", and "Spit Out the Bone" ... yeah, there are some I'm not going to be playing on repeat any time soon - "Hardwired" I'm looking at you, but overall this is as solid an album as they've had in a long time, and I'm by no means a hater of anything they've done that most people love to pick onI'm not saying this album is on the same level as the first 5 (certainly it's not revolutionary in the least), but I'm getting that same feeling digging into it as I did when I first found "Lightning" or "Puppets" and realized there was so much more than just "Bells" and "Battery" ... that's an oversimplification, but hopefully I'm getting my point across
11/23/2016 11:58:59 AM

soooooooo garage days then
11/26/2016 10:43:32 PM
^^^^ I see it like this. There are at least 5 songs on this new album that they should have no issue problem putting into their live set when/if they tour around the US again.
11/27/2016 9:11:28 AM
^^^^ haha____Nobody has mentioned Confusion. I think that might be the best song on the album. Also, this album needs more wild guitar solos.
11/29/2016 11:05:22 PM
so I went on a little mini-rant earlier in this thread basically saying they've sucked for the last 30 years.I finally got around to skimming through a few songs on this album, and I gotta say, I was actually impressed, it did sound a lot like early/mid 80's Metallica. I'm going to listen to it more. Still though, it's hard to take them seriously (especially Lars) after seeing them moping and crying in that documentary.
12/2/2016 2:07:49 PM
^^ Confusion has definitely grown on me. Wasn't one that I liked the first couple of times, but it is moving up the ladder. Same with ManUNkind.Dream No More and Am I Savage are on the bottom for me. I was really disappointed with Am I Savage. I loved the first 30-45 seconds but then it goes a different direction and completely ruined it for me.Still loving Halo and Moth. The rest are pretty good too
12/4/2016 1:57:30 AM
I like that so many people have different favorite songs from the album. It has songs that appeal to most of the fans across the different phases of Metallica old/new. I've been a hardcore fan since I was 5 back in the 80s and will always love the first 4 albums the best so I am partial to the thrashier tracks. Here are my favorites at the moment best to worst. I think top 9 are all really solid. Bottom 3 are meh.1 Spit Out the Bone (Also my 4 yr old's favorite)2 Here Comes Revenge (Video makes the song better)3 Moth into Flame4 Atlas, Rise5 Now that we're dead (Catchiest song on the album IMO)........6 Hardwired (Something about the chorus keeps me from putting this higher)7 ManUnkind8 Halo (The end is great!)9 Confusion...............10 Dream No More11 Am I Savage12 Murder One

1/29/2019 1:31:09 AM
I saw them in 94. Alice in Chains was supposed to open but replaced by some no-named band called Candlebox due to LS going in rehab. That was the last time I really listened to Metallica.
1/29/2019 8:07:27 AM
Hardwired...to Self-Destruct is a silly name for an album ... especially for a band of mid-50-somethings that's been around for almost 40 years
1/29/2019 1:37:32 PM
I mean, they’re pretty famous for their abuse of various substances, mainly alcoholthat hardwiring never goes away

Stomach bug hit me on the way to the show Spent most of the show in the bathroom. My friends had fun at least. I had been looking forward to this for almost a year. Bought my in the 2 hour pre-presale for legacy fan members.

They didn't play Frantic???? Lame. Also Candlebox wasn't a no name band.
1/30/2019 1:47:59 PM
^ They were then. Far Behind was just getting played on the radio. People in the parking lot were pissed when they found out AIC was not playing...
1/30/2019 3:40:44 PM
^yeah I would have been too
1/30/2019 5:28:35 PM
Wikipedia tells me that Metallica's tour started in May 94. At this point, Candlebox was the #27 album in the country and had been on the charts already for 28 weeks. By the time the Charlotte date rolled around, the album was #9. They were definitely not a no name band in 1994.(Also that album sold as much as the best selling AIC album)

I should have asked one of you to buy that Mr. Wuf poster for me, it's going for $200 bucks on eBay and I'm not willing to spend that
