http://wncn.com/2016/08/07/1-killed-in-raleigh-shooting-sunday-morning/

The 911 calls leading up to and after this incident are. The guy was going on and on to 911 about how he was on the community watch and he was going to defend his community. He ended up shooting and killing a 20 year old.

He must have terrible aim if he killed somebody with a warning shot.

But yeah, this guy deserves to go to prison.

Doesn't sound like either of them had their thinking caps on

no. Warning shots are things denied police officers by their respective departments because people don't know wha the fuck fuck a physics is.
a lot of lives could be saved if we brought the warning shot back.
Then again, not approaching a known unarmed suspect with a drawn, cocked and unlocked .45 would save even more.
But hey what do i know.

What posessed the homeowner to go outside after he called 911. That sounds like a good way to get shot.

Oh my! A white person killed a black person in self defense? Page the liberal press, NAACP, Black Lives Matter, Fox News, and anyone else who wants to get involved.

it sorta comes down to a binary philosophy: Wait for someone to protect you, or protect yourself.

I say "Sorta" because there's always that 10% just aching to kill somebody and have it dismissed as justifiable.

The 10% folks are exploitative criminals.

Then there's the strawman who's had enough and actually acts on his neighbors' behalf.

That's what the "legal killers" take advantage of because it's hard to define. Almost impossible.

The sad thing is that if we had more of these bloodthirsty lunatics, the populace would be safer.

No it ain't right.

It's like arguing that "if we didn't prosecute pedophiles so hard, they wouldn't kill their vicims" thus saving lives...
I think a standup comedian came up with that one. where do you go with argument? It's useless information.

So were the people in his yard allegedly with weapons or were they in the street? And the shooter was not the same person that called in saying they were going to "secure the neighborhood". That was another neighbor.

I could see feeling threatened if there were a group of armed people in my front yard coming towards me in my garage at 1 AM. But... there is no indication yet as to what directly led to the shooting. The "I fired a warning shot" line makes it sound like they could have just been standing in the street and the idiot shot in their general direction.

the only way you can defend this as a warning shot would be if he intentionally shot one armed member of the group in order to warn the rest what would happen if they kept advancing. Otherwise, why would you be firing a gun if you didn't feel in enough danger for your own life to actually be aiming at someone?

It will be interesting to see what these kids were doing outside - if they actually lived near there and were just annoying the neighbors, or if they were there for something else and the two knew each other.

Another caller says he has a police report about a "possible hate crime" against a resident of the house the shooting happened at? - http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/crime/article94248182.html

I was basing that off of this from the article in the OP:

Quote :
"About 7 minutes before that call about the shooting, another caller who claimed he was with the neighborhood watch complained about people on Singleleaf, requested police and said he was going to “secure the neighborhood.”"

I could be wrong though

Sounds like Caller 1, 3 may the same person. (presumed shooter)

Sounds like Caller (no name) 2 was part of the group outside of the house along with the victim

Sounds like Caller 3(presumed shooter) was the wife/so of the person who fired the shot and hit the person.

Sounds like Caller 4 (refuses to give name or police blanked) sounds like part of the group outside the house/victim group

I don't know any provision for a warning shot. From my limited knowledge, if your using deadly force you have to be in fear of your life.

My guess, plead down to voluntary manslaughter, possibly murder 2 depending on the evidence presented.

I.E. if property was being destroyed, his SO and her children were in the house, they were continuing to make advances, he felt that they were going to enter the house. I'm sure the distance from the house where the victim was shot will play a part (if he was in the street vs the driveway/yard)

I would think the first call would really hurt this defense, but you don't know what he did, or how the events played out after that call. He could have walked outside and immediately been confronted, or he could have walked outside and immediately made a threat.

I don't think the Assault with a Deadly weapon: Serious injury conviction is going to help the victim however. Even without knowing the charge, a reasonable persons view of them as a threat would have more credence.

The second call didn't help either, when he described seeing guns but not any mention of them being pointed at him, also the warning shot language is no good. He never described his life being in jeopardy.

Leaving the safety of his house to confront them, would be strike one. "locked and loaded" "secure my neighborhood"

Well the shooter said the other guys in front of his house had guns. It doesn't matter what it was, he will still probably claim self defense in court. Like I said, paging BLM, Fox News, MSNBC, and the NAACP. If the courts let him off Raleigh will get on the news when there is a riot.

Not sure why anyone thinks there would be riots over this, as if The Blacks operate with some sort of hive mind. In the recent past, we saw riots in Ferguson and Baltimore when police officers, who were parts of departments known for racist policing, killed unarmed people under nebulous circumstances; and the perception was that nothing would be done about it.

This seems to be a case where the shooter was arrested and charged almost immediately, and will go to court.
