I want to take my best friend for basic sailing classes somewhere on the NC coast. Any recommendations/experiences?

We don't need to get certified yet, just want to get introduced to the concept. My only 'boat' experience is my freshwater kayak.

Not sure about NC schools.

I have my basic ASA cert. and my dad is actually in the Caribbean right now getting a really advanced one but you may want to just learn all the parts of the boat and your points of sail, and just go rent a Sunfish out at Lake Crabtree when it's a windy weekend and see if you like it if the sailing school ends up being any kind of big expense. Sailing large yachts is a totally different experience. Both my dad and I learned on a small day sailor and then moved up.
