Fam is coming into town tomorrow and I'm looking for something relatively new or interesting to go for lunch. They aren't good going out of their comfort zone food wise though so struggling. Any suggestions?
7/15/2016 11:47:17 AM
whatever you do don't take them to that Farmer's Market Restaurant. that place sucks.
7/15/2016 11:50:05 AM
Sitti in downtown Raleigh. Any of their salmon dishes are out of this world. For lunch they aren't terribly expensive.[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 11:51 AM. Reason : it's Mediterranean ]
7/15/2016 11:50:52 AM
mcdonalds
7/15/2016 11:52:02 AM
Yeah I like sitti, but if my dad can't get a burger there he's probably gonna turn his nose up at it.
7/15/2016 11:52:15 AM
well if it's a burger you want, check out Chucks. [Edited on July 15, 2016 at 11:54 AM. Reason : Player's Retreat has a fantastic burger too, but may not be the best place to take out of towners][Edited on July 15, 2016 at 11:55 AM. Reason : oh ok so this is more about you trying something new.]
7/15/2016 11:53:00 AM
Yeah I like chucks fine, just looking for something different. Been most spots downtown that have been around for a while.
7/15/2016 11:53:55 AM
People who haven't ever been to Cheesecake Factory consider it the holy grail.
7/15/2016 11:58:08 AM
Lebanese seems slightly adventurous i'm not sure how nice/casual you want so here is a variety:18 SeaboardCapital Club 16RockfordThe Pit GravyTupelo Honey (way overrated IMO, but lots of people love it)Relish (i think this place is awful but for some reason old people love it)
7/15/2016 12:00:46 PM
yeah i've been to tupelo honey twice and wasn't impressed on either visit
7/15/2016 12:03:02 PM
Yeah I'm waffling between Cowfish and Capital Club at the moment.Rockford is a good suggestion but the menu is a bit limited. I'd probably do Gravy but I'm more about that when the weather isn't so damn hot. 18 Seaboard a little fancy for right now. I enjoyed my meal at Tupelo honey fine but have no need to ever go back. Never been to Relish, may check it out.The Pit is so fucking overrated and we grew up 30 mins from Lexington. THERE IS NO GOOD BBQ EAST OF BURLINGTON! COME AT ME BROS!
7/15/2016 12:07:59 PM
7/15/2016 12:11:50 PM
I like Relish. Good southern cooking. Similarly, NoFo is always good too.[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:12 PM. Reason : ^ exactly]
7/15/2016 12:12:32 PM
Greek restraunt Taverna Agora downtown on Hillsborough. Great food and atmosphere, downstairs and rooftop seating. And I think on Friday nights they have a live band and fire/belly dancers upstairs.
7/15/2016 12:12:49 PM
relish isn't bad, it's just boring un-elevated dishes in a dated atmosphereanyone remotely "foodie" will be unimpressed by relish, but boring southern people will love it[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:14 PM. Reason : .]
7/15/2016 12:13:51 PM
un-elevated? lol, it's been a while since you've pulled out the "elitists for no reason" attitude.[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:16 PM. Reason : ]
7/15/2016 12:14:40 PM
i guess that's not hyphenated, but yes

GarlandBida MandaStanburyFiction KitchenPoole'sCC16Everything else is a step down...plenty of other good places, but those six are where you'll get crazy goodness.
7/15/2016 12:21:49 PM
wait the farmer market restaurant is bad? i've been many times and thought it was fine. maybe over-crowded at certain times, but the food was always good when i went. i guess i have low standards.
7/15/2016 12:25:31 PM
obviously you aren't an uppity foodie
7/15/2016 12:30:46 PM
^^ yeah it was good BACK IN MAH day but they've been phoning it in for years. i'm convinced their potatoes are powdered. Chicken (fried and BBQ) is always dry and overcooked. Most of it tastes like it's out of a can delivered by a Sysco truck.[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:34 PM. Reason : for similar cuisine cooked right head to Jack's Seafood & Soul Food]
7/15/2016 12:32:40 PM
chucks is like 20x more overrated than the pit
7/15/2016 12:34:59 PM
^^i see. to be fair, when i eat there i usually do breakfast. which is probably harder to screw up. can't recall the last time i had lunch there[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 12:35 PM. Reason : d]
7/15/2016 12:35:00 PM
bad daddies for burgers nom nom nomoh but capital club is a staple in my rotation place is fucking legit as hell]
7/15/2016 8:37:10 PM
Who has a better burger than chucks? Asking because the spirit animal (poblanos and cream cheese) is the best burger I've ever had. I'm down to try wherever if that's overrated
7/15/2016 8:52:24 PM
[Edited on July 15, 2016 at 8:55 PM. Reason : ))<>((]

J Betski's has a really good burger, and you can get some not-a-burger stuff as well if you want. German stuff.Back in the back of Seaboard.Mojo's if all anyone wants is a burger.
7/15/2016 9:32:42 PM
Just take them to Capital Club 16 and be done with it. That place is delicious.^^^The Spirit Animal is my jam...I've tried all of the burgers there and that's easily my favorite
7/15/2016 9:39:59 PM

Hot point near Cary crossroads is a super lunch spot. Their sandwiches are delicious and they bake their own bread. The pizzas are insanely good. Same deal, fresh dough made in-house. Divine.
7/16/2016 1:00:16 PM
Sounds like they'd be interested in Chili's. It's a lively chain for Tex Mex & American eats.
7/16/2016 3:29:14 PM
sorry I'm late;the ethiopian place in mission valley
7/16/2016 7:03:25 PM
whatever you do don't take him to Sammy's. that place sucks.
7/16/2016 7:05:01 PM

7/16/2016 7:39:52 PM
Fuck that go to cheesesteak factory. They have a HUGE menu.
7/16/2016 7:41:23 PM
Chuck's has the world's greatest BLT. Nom Nom Nom Nom.
7/16/2016 8:39:04 PM
Just take them to the goat.
7/16/2016 9:38:32 PM
PR burger is way better than Chuck's. And Chuck's is good.
7/16/2016 10:15:05 PM

It might be out of the way, but Tribeca Tavern has burgers.
7/17/2016 10:41:55 AM
Get a box of wings from Wingzone and eat them under an overpass.
7/17/2016 11:22:09 AM
7/17/2016 12:04:38 PM
Any chain restaurant.
7/17/2016 12:51:04 PM
Man it's too bad that average at best Fuddruckers wanna-be burger place on Glenwood closed. What was that place called? Sounds perfect for this.
7/17/2016 1:59:03 PM
Fat Daddy's. It's now a Panera. Which also could be perfect for the unadventurous eaters
7/17/2016 4:07:22 PM
Mami Nora's. Its the obvious choice. The real one, of course, not one of the Alpacas.
7/17/2016 10:57:16 PM
There is still a Golden Corral on Glewnood.
