I think we need a drawing to confirm Earl

That's a really small number of passengers for such a large plane... i guess not many people going to Egypt these days...
5/19/2016 2:53:41 AM
Now saying 66 people, so even lower. But the flight did depart later than 11pm local time and was scheduled to arrive after 3am, so it makes some sense that it wasn't a packed flight.10 miles into Egyptian airspace. No distress calls or any public indications of sensitive cargo or passengers. Who knows, at this point.[Edited on May 19, 2016 at 3:04 AM. Reason : .]

Twitter is abuzz with this story. Looks like a good possibility of terrorism, but apparently a distress signal went out (according to BBC) so maybe mechanical.Edit: now I'm seeing no distress signal. So this must have been VERY sudden. Whatever the cause it seems unlikely that it didn't go down. [Edited on May 19, 2016 at 6:05 AM. Reason : Fhjj][Edited on May 19, 2016 at 6:17 AM. flew into a black hole like that Malaysia airliner perhaps

Donald Trump already jumping to the terrorist conclusion on Twitter. This is going to be a 48 hour shitstorm at minimum. If it was terrorism he might well win the election.

I'm shocked the plane was only half full. I'm stuck in the middle seat 70 percent of the time from atl to west coast

Seems like it was a bomb, probably planted before take off by an airport employee in France. I'm guessing baggage handler. That seems to be the leading theory right now. Lots to be figured out still, but it doesn't look good.
5/19/2016 3:26:58 PM
You'd think someone would have taken credit for it by now.
5/19/2016 3:37:07 PM
Yeah, that's the one thing I've been surprised by too and the thing that does give me some slim hope that this wasn't a terror attack. Usually your have people taking credit for stuff like this even when they didn't do it. There's also the possibility that it may have been a lone person operating on their own as opposed to an organized ISIS cell or something. Hell, it could also be that it was done by a far right French nationalist group that wants this blamed on Muslims.[Edited on May 19, 2016 at 3:42 PM. Reason : Typing on a phone is hard. ]

I heard on the radio there were a series of wild turns before it went down. That makes me think of an attempted hijacking.
5/19/2016 3:42:26 PM
Seems unlikely given how fast it plummeted and cockpit security, plus 3 "security personnel" were on board. I'm guessing explosion near the tail section or wing causing wild turn, overcorrection, then fast drop in altitude.

very interesting that OEP hasn't posted in this thread yet

"the plane we found was not that plane"What the hell was it then? MH370? Charles Widmore? What?

This is just all so sad

I think the implication was a terrorist attack "this close" to the election will favor the Republican candidate since they generally have military stuff and national security as a higher priority than their Democratic counterpart.

As more time passes, I'm starting to believe the plane never crashedwhat we knowthis incident occurred during handoff from greece to egyptthe plane rapidly descended before vanishingno witnesses of explosionno wreckageone of the busiest seas in the worldBased on all of that, I'm ready to present the theory that the plane was hijacked and flown to libya under the radar.

^ only 60 people on board, they could all have been working together
