This has always been a series where being able to actually control the player and explore the world at your leisure is what made it great. I always felt the overall story was fairly average and a little disjointed across the series.

I might give it a chance. Even as a fan of the game series, my expectations are really, really low.

I hope THIS is the movie that finally brings video game movies out of purgatory. Where it gives directors the ability to see how to bring odd properties to the big screen. The same way Blade and X-Men did for superhero movies.

And we get Halo

Warcraft was the other hope for this. It will fail.

Aside from the hip hop music it actually looks like a fairly good recreation of the game. Although I'm not sure why they made the animus a giant robot arm thing that goes around his waist. I'm curious how they are going to explain the leaps of faith though -- in a video game you can get away with jumping off a 200 ft building and landing safely in a pile of hay but I don't think that will translate to film too well.

Haven't seen it but as RT shows, critics are panning it.

I don't think critics are ever going to go for a video game movie.
