I'm highly leaning towards no toe strap. From what I've read the toe strap can cause some blisters and FREE DEM TOES. Plus I like the color a little better...

if you're worried about blisters, you might want to try wearing socks and real shoes

^Considering they'll partially be used for hiking+rafting that would be difficult.

No I'm leaning towards no toe straps. They seemed just as secure as the one's with toe straps and those felt a little restrictive.

I have toe straps, I have gotten blisters from them on ma big toe (but not often), I've been frustrated trying to wear socks with them (but not often). Toe strap makes it easier to wear without cinching the ankle strap all the way down and it keeps your foot from moving left and right in the sandal. Tradeoffs

Why would you ever wear socks with sandals?

For me, it's when I'm taking the dog for a quick pee run around the block and it's too cold for no socks. There are better slip on options, I just don't own any of them.

^^^If you don't want blisters. Some people hike in Chacos with socks. I'm intending to use them for both hiking and water sports (what many people use them for). Plus they make me appear taller because I'm short.

Yeah I grew up wearing socks + Birkenstocks. I don't see a problem with it.
