Are you for 'em or against 'em?

I'm not talking about restaurants[Edited on February 22, 2016 at 3:27 PM. Reason : BARS]
2/22/2016 3:27:15 PM
I'm generally pro-baby
2/22/2016 3:28:04 PM
Babies make good drunks. Monkeys, however, do not. They get stabby.
2/22/2016 3:29:16 PM
I'm babby-agnostic
2/22/2016 3:30:37 PM
I'm pro-new parents not becoming shut-ins after the birth of their childso I'm totally fine with babies at bars
2/22/2016 3:36:50 PM
I encourage this, but only in states where smoking is still legal at bars
2/22/2016 3:38:55 PM
I guess I am cool with it as long as it is kept under control. My brother in-law had a birthday party at one of the non-restaurant micro breweries one time and everyone brought their toddlers. It was a little much and wrecked the atmosphere.
2/22/2016 3:44:07 PM
what do you consider to be a "bar" in Raleigh?
2/22/2016 3:44:42 PM
let's use The Goat as an example.
2/22/2016 3:57:38 PM
Unless the kid is being a nuisance I don't see why this should be a problem. Its hard enough to have a social life starting out as a parent.Plus, bars are some of the best places to take little ones. Most bars are drunk-proof, which typically trumps kid proofing. No big glass sculptures or expensive pieces of glass to destroy, drinks in plastic cups when requested, easily cleanable tables and floors, several games to play, lots of TVs, good music and its typically loud as shit anyways, so my screaming toddler is less likely to piss someone off. Some of my favorites bars/brewers even cater to young kids and have fenced in outdoor areas with games, buckets of chalk, several corn hole boards and a few kid friendly bar options like juice/soda and snacks.
2/22/2016 3:57:54 PM
^Yeah, Abby Road Grill in Cary has sidewalk chalk.
2/22/2016 3:59:53 PM
I really just want to say Nope as a general policy. There are too many shitty parents out there that just let their child(ren) run rampant where ever they are without giving two shits about the other patrons. Granted their are parents that do have quiet and well behaved kids but that seems to be a growing minority. So nope. Bars are for adults, as is any 'restaurant' after around 10pm when they're open until 2am...because then they're in bar mode.[Edited on February 22, 2016 at 4:05 PM. Reason : ]

I take mine to a "bar" like once every other month, but it's during trivia at 7PM and pretty much everybody knows her, so sometimes she'll go to a couple different tables. There's no way I'd take her to the Goat ever, or pretty much any bar past 9-10PM unless I really had to run in there for a second.
2/22/2016 4:11:43 PM
one time at Sammy's some young parents brought their infant baby in a carrier and put it on their table and both parents were smoking around it the whole time. everyone was looking at them like wtf but then they decided to change the baby on the table and staff asked them to leave.generally, I'm against children at the bar but if they're well behaved and it's a reasonable hour to be getting food then whatever. however, don't bring your kid to the bar area of a sports bar when Sunday football is on and expect me to watch my language. same goes for outdoor seating at a bar and asking people not to smoke - don't bring your kid around people smoking, it's a bar not a Chuckie Cheeses. I don't smoke but it goes with the territory of a bar.
2/22/2016 4:13:14 PM
My child is asleep after 8:30 PM, so I guess there is a time aspect to consider with this question. Am I against babbys@bars? No. Am I against babbys@bars after 10 PM when the "nightlife" crowd is out? Absolutely. That said, I take my baby to bars during the day and if you've got a problem with it, come say it to my face, tough guy.[Edited on February 22, 2016 at 4:18 PM. Reason : ^yeah, changing your child on the table... ]
2/22/2016 4:16:34 PM
I don't have a problem with infants in bars when their parents are comfortable with it, so long as they aren't exposed to smoke. Young babies can usually sleep anywhere for the most part, and I've known a few people to occasionally take their baby out in a carrier so the mom could DD the dad from a party or the like. I don't think anyone should make a habit of it, but occasionally it's fine. When they get older and start being louder or wandering around, eh. And if you're going to tell anyone to change their behavior because your kid is there, nope. You can stay home, get a sitter, or go to Applebee's.
2/22/2016 4:36:50 PM
We can go ahead and exclude cary from this conversation. No one gives a fuck about that shitAnd by babies I mean 0 days to booster seat.[Edited on February 22, 2016 at 4:52 PM. Reason : ]

Nobody gives a fuck about daytime babies in "bars" either.

I don't mind hanging out with the bar kids.I mean, they should obviously be at home in bed somewhere, but since they're not, you might as well watch them whip/nae nae and ask them about their favorite movie. If they're younger, you can teach them the twist, the sprinkler, the shopping cart...kids need to know these things.
2/22/2016 5:33:16 PM
i have no problem with kids at a brewery. Most seem to be family friendly and kids like food trucks.
2/22/2016 5:34:40 PM
Hipsters with babies are the reason that breweries and barcades do well.
2/22/2016 5:46:12 PM
New dad here, 3 month old. We take the baby to bar/restaurants, however NEVER past about 8pm. She's/us in bed by 9. Also, when she starts to walk she will not be a fuck who just jumps around and is generally a fuck.

Considering most Millennials are just overgrown babies, there's not much we can do about it.

[NO]It's bad enough to have to hear about people talking about their kids at a bar. [Edited on June 10, 2016 at 1:25 PM. Reason : too much talk of poop and vomit, etc.]
6/10/2016 1:25:29 PM
i bring my kids to the local growler shop where they serve pints - i get some looks from time to time but whatever
6/10/2016 1:35:37 PM
I've got a kid, and I am a full blown idiot/alcoholic. You know what I did? I got a fucking babysitter, because that's what anybody with at least half a brain would do.
6/10/2016 1:37:30 PM
Do I have to tip your babysitter?
6/10/2016 1:49:10 PM
I have opinions on this matter but instead just want to ask, DID YOU KNOW...that beer halls were originally invented as places for the family to gather and spend time together, including children and babies?the more you know

I kinda have more of an issue with dogs than babies at bars these days. My neighborhood is annoyingly obsessed with being "dog friendly" so everyone brings their dogs with them to bars and restaurants. I mean, I actually like dogs much, much more than babies, but it can be annoying to have a bunch of dogs running around when you're just trying to grab a beer or enjoy dinner. Dog people are just as bad as parents when it comes to being delusional and thinking 100% of everyones loves their dog and think it's the greatest thing ever. And no, I'm not a cat person.[Edited on June 10, 2016 at 2:56 PM. ^^ no, that's the problem. people are allowed to bring their dogs INSIDE.
6/10/2016 3:12:53 PM
To a dog, dogs are never inside. Rooms are a convention of human perception
