I hate it when a freshman not expected to do anything has another 20+ point scoring game. I'd rather he go 0-8 like Doeren as long as he was taking more high percentage shots.

I'm just saying Saturday night's riots got a little out of hand. The media didn't report them and nobody called them riots because they were in response to NC State's monumental win over clemson and weren't some sort of anti-police event. People were flipping cars on Hillsborough street. Its one thing to celebrate our recent success on the basketball court but we don't have to destroy our city in the process.

It's always good to have a legitimate outside shooting threat on the floor at all times. If Caleb is not in the game, then Mav needs to be. Haven't looked in a while, but I think his freshmen 3pt% is higher than Scott Wood's freshmen %.

And if you don't think he's a threat, watch opposing defenders chase him around screens and/or switch out on them.

He's going to be a beast in years to come with professional S&C work. I expect All-ACC level by junior year...maybe even next year depending on how our rotation works out.

age doesn't mean much if you never got to play as a senior in high school and are playing in college instead

^ a vast majority of the shots he takes are good, open shots. he just can't make them consistently and takes 30 minutes to find his shot

contested shots aren't the same as bad shots

he routinely is in the right spot at the right time and takes the shot before his defender can get to him

he isn't out there taking multiple faders with a hand in his face every game

i think that was meant to say that he is more than just a 3PT specialist. he can put it on the floor and score around the rim occasionally. not that he is better than Wood...but that he has more ways that he can score.

but mostly, i think it's a little silly to keep comparing him to Wood. Y'all forgetting that Wood was one of the best pure shooters we've seen at State...i understand the desire to make the comparison, but expecting him to be Wood is just dumb, IMO.

and there absolutely is something to the "he's young" argument. dude reclassified and committed really late. and was supposed to be coming off the bench this year...he's been forced into a role that he's clearly not ready for. that certainly is a factor.

To be fair I did miss a half of one game because I was vomiting from the stomach flu and I missed one game in the beginning of ACC play that I dvr'd from ESPNU and watched later but don't recall which one. But I flew in to see the W&M game, paid the crazy Comcast fees to watch the non-espn3 presentations and have watched the espn3 games.

I really wish that I could have that time back

ok...if it's a matter of semantics, then yes...he's old for his class. but the "inexperience" argument is not invalid. no matter how old he is, he is not used to playing at this level, against this caliber athlete and it shows. and it's only exacerbated by the fact that he's being forced into a role he wasn't recruited for and isn't ready for.

i'm not defending him because i think he's great...i just think people were crazy if they were expecting him to be Scott Wood or Ralston Turner in his freshman season...especially when he's being asked to be the #2 shooting threat on the team. we've probably been spoiled having those two shooters over the last 6 years - for all their shortcomings as all-around players, those guys were dead eye shooters.
