I mean my liver and pancreas are probably just fine, but I drink just enough, at just the wrong times and for at least the wrong number of years, I think, to qualify.I've only had like 2 REAL bouts with stone cold addiction to booze. Only one of them killed me.Anyone else?

i drink like 5 nights a week.but its only like one or two or three beers.

i think my problem is I know I'm only drinking for the effect. So I drink fast. After three beers (my sober "cut off point") it's a gamble for me.I did very well for almost a decade by only drinking with other people, but since people who aren't teenaged girls wanting booze actually drink in my area, I sorta fell off.

Hitler hardly ever drank, by the way.I think that's relevant here.

I'm going to have a drinking problem if this Nc state v. UNC game keeps going this poorly

I used to easily drink 5 nights a week...Over the past year, I've had drinks 3 times, I think.I hate myself.[Edited on November 28, 2015 at 5:41 PM. Reason : ]

I used to drink $100-200 worth of liquor a week, split between at home and at bars. If I was a home it was always a fifth, and sometimes I'd start a second. Now I drink a bottle of wine, or maybe 5 shots total, once every month or two.
11/28/2015 6:38:51 PM
one night i lost count at 26 beers and was out for another hour or so.and by lost count i mean was too drunk to know if i had 3 or 7 after 26 and this was at the saucer so none of the 26 were budlights
11/28/2015 7:02:56 PM
I only drink when I'm at work, and I only work 3 days a week so... It's not a problem.
11/28/2015 9:30:08 PM
Me probably. If it's not in the house, I'm OK. But if it is, I'm drinking it everyday. I'm having a beer right now. It's 10:21am.
11/29/2015 10:21:21 AM
I drink almost every day, but I rarely binge. So I don't think I have a problem.I've bartended for over a decade, so there was heavy drinking until I hit 30 and my body was telling me to slow it down. I would bartend 3 or 4 nights a week...on those night I would have anywhere from 5-10 shots and a beer to close out the shift. On my nights off, a light night would just be a couple beers/glasses of wine...to big nights, where again, 5-10 drinks. It all depended on if I was hanging out with other people in the industry and the shots would start to flow. Now it's 2-4 drinks a night. Light nights are just splitting a bottle of wine with the wifey. "Heavy" nights are a cocktail when I get home after a rough day of work. A beer or two while I grill the meat for dinner and wife cooks the rest...THEN we'll finish off a bottle of wine for dinner and whatever show we're binge watching. Throw in some day drinking about once a month.Every now and then we'll take a week or two off in preparation for summer or to detox after a vacation.

China used to be heaven for drinkers. Got drunk with each other is the most important table manner there.
11/29/2015 11:23:10 AM
I used to go out and get wasted drunk every Friday and Saturday night. During the week I would stay in and get a solid buzz. Then I started dating the guy I'm dating now, and I've since slowed down. I hardly ever drink now. I can make a 12 pack last a couple of weeks, when I used to go through one in a weekend, or even a night. However, since I rarely drink now, I feel like I can over do it sometimes. When I feel like I have the ability to get drunk (like I have nothing to do the next day) I tend to waaaay over drink and get trashed and make a fool of myself. And since I've cut way back on my drinking I am much more of a lightweight so when I have night light that and I drink as much as I used to it's just a huge disaster.

I have the exact same drinking habits as jbrick. The only difference is that his wife is OK with it, and my (ex)wife was calling me a reckless alcoholic nearly everyday of my life. It became hard to handle.[Edited on November 30, 2015 at 6:10 AM. Reason : h]

^^ I'd wager you drink more than jbrick...probably by a healthy margin
12/15/2015 10:26:12 PM
I'm in the jbrick range also, I'll go a while and have two beers per night occasionally a third but rarely more and once or twice a month I'll take a work week off and limit drinks to the weekend.
12/16/2015 12:59:15 PM
Pretty much limit my drinking to Friday nights out with the boys...but admittedly it's almost always a binge.

I wish I could still drink like I did in college. At 28 I learned what a two day hangover was. At 29 I really have to watch what I drink or I'll get the dreaded multi-day hangover. Really, if I drink anything more than 4-5 pints or a bottle of wine I'll be hungover the next day, even if it's over several hours and I don't get drunk.
12/16/2015 2:31:11 PM
I definitely have a drinking problem. I don't feel a compulsion to drink and I don't drink that often, but when I DO drink, I'm 3x as drunk as anyone else at the table. like genuine babbling, publicly telling my friend's wife whom I hardly know how awesome she is and how I'm jealous of her husband, drunk. eventually I just decided to give up drinking, because when I drink, catastrophes (of random intensity) will continue to occur sporadically.

^ same boat. But I'm too tired most of the time to get there, so I just fall asleep between like 6-10 beers. There's only been 4-5 times where I've been affected at work the next day but those were all at least a few years ago

hey i remember this thread. Doing better now. I'll say I drink every night. It's a few drinks and bed. I hate to say it, but honestly I sleep better.
8/18/2016 9:09:26 PM
^ careful with that shit mang. You can get to a point where you'll need those few drinks to wind down, then you'll need those few drinks to go to sleep, then you'll need to drink more to go to sleep, until you can't get to sleep without booze.

Once I have just one drink, no matter what time of day, I better keep it going or I am going to get really sleepy. If I stay awake, I will get a bad headache. If I keep drinking, I'll be just fine (except for the hangover the next day). Maybe I'm just doing something wrong, like maybe I'm not properly hydrated or maybe it's related to my morning coffee intake, but it definitely has reduced my alcohol consumption over the past eight years or so.

I don't really drink much during the week since I get up at 530am to go to the gym. On weekends I've learned to really enjoy day drinking, usually at a local bar/bottle shop/tap room/brewery, and rarely go out at night to bars even though we easily live within walking distance of several establishments. Heavy drinking nights probably occur 1-2 times a month, usually among friends and/or special occasions. The one thing that's gotten worse for me after a night of heavy drinking is dehydration. I always wake up 3-4 hours after passing out to pee & drink a ton of water.
