Didn't really know what section to put this in...maybe some of you electric engineers and all can help, as well as computing experts.

I've newly acquired a mechanical bull. it's oldschool and has no real sophisticated controls.

Can I make a control myself, straight to the electric motor? the motor is newish...can it rotate both ways via signal through a cable?

Computer guys...can I program a device or even a joystick type thing to send my signal to the motor?

basically I want to modernize it..

Can you get us info on the motor? Post a pic? Any markings/text on the motor? Is the motor AC or DC?

Basically, yes, all of your requests are possible. Just depends on how much legwork you want to do. It wont be "easy" either way. But with the right hardware and something like an arduino, you could definitely do it.

I will have the motor info on Friday so I can post it.

Before it seems it had two cords/cables attached to the motor and it ran to a simple switch. If you moved the switch to the left the bull spun left...right, it spun right.

It's crude and I want something more professional and definitely easier to use and setup for someone that I can just train and send out on their own with it.

I'll get that motor info Friday and try and post pics as well

1) Get some good 14/4 cabling
2) Start connecting wires until it starts working or you electrocute yourself*
3) Just follow the wiring guide printed on the label for your voltage range, assuming you have a good 3phase power source
