What, precisely, do they think the options are? No one will go downtown if they drive the nightlife out of there.

I feel like that guy in the flyer[Edited on September 30, 2015 at 10:27 AM. Reason : ]

This picture leads me to believe there is insufficient seating on sidewalks. Sucks you have to lean on polls
9/30/2015 10:30:01 AM
^ not sure if thats a pun or a spelling mistake
9/30/2015 10:39:58 AM
what else would people be doing at 2am downtown, if not drinking?
9/30/2015 10:41:38 AM
liberal liquor laws
9/30/2015 10:43:30 AM
you would think freedom to drink would be a conservative tenet. don't tread on my beer!
9/30/2015 12:22:35 PM
I like to browse overpriced art studios and shop for handbags and designer women's clothing at 2am, but all these places are only open 8 to 5 M-F.
9/30/2015 12:22:37 PM
yes
9/30/2015 12:30:19 PM
i really hope we can vote those fuckers out next week.
9/30/2015 12:36:14 PM
What exactly are these "liberal" liquor laws they're so afraid of, pray tell?
9/30/2015 1:24:23 PM
drinking outdoors. on patios.
9/30/2015 1:30:27 PM
The one(s) allowing the public to buy and consume it.
9/30/2015 1:30:40 PM
Good god. To call this short-sighted idiocy would be an understatement. I always thought the antagonist from 80s/90s teen movies were too tight-assed to be real people, but this just stinks of a Mr. Rooney level killjoy.Where we these people when all the initiatives to bring business downtown was going on? After all, if they had spoken up when we opened Fayetteville St. or built a big ass convention center then maybe now they wouldn't have to deal with the fallout of people going out to have a good time.Maybe they should start targeting all the businesses that are driving people downtown. They need to start campaigns against Redhat, Duke Energy, RBC, Highwoods, etc. and tell them to take all these fucking jobs and money somewhere else....Downtown was doing just fine back in the day when there were 2 good restaurants and plenty of empty benches for the homeless to sleep on. Our vacancy rate was fantastically high and provided dirt cheap space for musty second hand shops and discount stores.Edit:Indy Article on the ADhttp://www.indyweek.com/news/archives/2015/09/30/now-heres-some-bullshit-whos-behind-this-ridiculous-full-page-in-the-news-and-observerBar owner's responsehttps://youtu.be/f-OZJBtxrGk[Edited on September 30, 2015 at 1:45 PM. I'd like to see Moore Square become the new Hamsterdam
9/30/2015 3:20:29 PM
This is actually just a still frame from a video of dtownral spitting on a homeless veteran
9/30/2015 3:52:12 PM
although I disagree with the patio laws and the general coming-down on downtown Raleigh nightlife, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be happy if the Trolley Pub went away

Wolf web poll skew on election day
10/1/2015 2:29:19 PM
DrunkTown? No thank you. Now, TacoTown I can get behind.
10/1/2015 4:58:51 PM
To be fair, downtown Raleigh is DrunkTown, and has been for a very long time. Most of them are dressed like that as well.
10/1/2015 5:15:06 PM
it might be DrunkTown to people who have never spent time in a city before
10/1/2015 5:22:09 PM
We should close the bars at 11:30 during the week. Just as my grandma said nothing good happens after midnight.A proper classy southerner should have spent the evening at bible study and they should be in bed by midnight to ensure they can super productive a the factory the next morning!
10/1/2015 5:28:23 PM
Yeah, never been to a place that had such a high concentration of people that act like this guy, so I guess I've never been to a real city!!!
10/1/2015 5:31:27 PM
Mary-Ann Baldwin would hate the city I live in!!!!Nothing like sticking up for liberties and freedom except for the freedoms that you disagree with! The Republican Way!
10/1/2015 9:31:57 PM
you may want to try again, champ
10/1/2015 9:34:29 PM
huh
10/1/2015 10:10:28 PM
Maybe Raleigh could impose some Public Safety Zones downtown
10/1/2015 10:12:41 PM
^^ why do you think Mary-Ann Baldwin would hate the city you live in?
10/1/2015 10:18:25 PM
Its not the same use of liberal that you guys are thinking about
10/1/2015 10:37:21 PM
oh nvm I thought she was the chick supporting the ads.So I'm guessing the creator of this ad thinks Raleigh needs more churches downtown?Right now in Charlotte I've heard they have been doing a good job of tearing down a lot of the popular watering holes to replace them with luxury apartments offering 0-cultural value. So long Philsopher's, Jack's, Common Market, thirsty beaver
10/1/2015 10:58:14 PM

Thumbs up for hiring a voice actor that says "RALLY" instead of "Raleigh."
10/2/2015 2:34:09 PM
GET THE HELL OUT THERE AND VOTE, PEOPLE.This ad is targeting the pearl clutching crowd, the majority of whom do not even live downtown but for some reason feel compelled to try to bring us back to the tumbleweed filled "mall" that Fayetteville Street was when I moved here in 1998.The city tried to solve a minor issue (parts were getting a bit nutty, couldn't get past) with a sledge hammer, and we need to push back. I have many friends in the service business (not just the ones I'm involved with) and their numbers are hurting from this. The radio ad is even dumber, btw:https://soundcloud.com/hpermar/drunk-town-radio-spot

10/5/2015 12:43:05 PM
The picture is from a north Raleigh office park
10/5/2015 1:20:34 PM
I'd call it west Raleigh, but the important part is that it's OTB and nowhere near downtown.
10/5/2015 1:44:15 PM
Please avoid saying OTB.
10/5/2015 2:48:16 PM
ikr?
10/5/2015 3:05:20 PM
You down with OTB???!!!No, not reeeaaaally!!
10/5/2015 4:11:27 PM
Seriously, what's wrong with designating if a location is inside or outside the belt line? Is it too hipster to abbreviate it? Should it always be spelled-out?
10/5/2015 4:22:35 PM
because it doesn't fucking matter.
10/5/2015 4:39:18 PM
it does to me. it fucking matters to me.[Edited on October 5, 2015 at 4:45 PM. Reason : i mean, it's a geographical description]
