http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/lafayette-theater-shooting/louisiana-theater-shooting-gunman-john-houser-always-little-ex-lawyer-n397726

Seems like a nutter all around.

Quote :
" The page said he was a regular guest on a TV talk show in Columbus: "Invited political controversy on every one of them, and loved every minute of it."

Calvin Floyd, who hosted the "Rise & Shine" television show on NBC affiliate WLTZ, said Houser had extreme views.

"He was on from time to time because he was a very radical person with radical views," Floyd told NBC News. "He was a Republican and then I would have someone with a real strong Democrat view on."
"

Maybe... just maybe... we shouldn't follow the AM radio trend of empowering right-wing nut jobs...

That's a hullva jump to go from being a political nutter to shooting a bunch of random people...I guess we'll hear more about mental illness soon

Looks like he was a Golden Dawn supporter (greek neo nazi, anti-immigrant group).

He was a big KKK fan and David Duke supporter. Most likely a big Confederate Flag fan.

this is pretty nuts:
Quote :
"Last year, the SPLC released a report,White Homicide Worldwide, about Stormfront, which is the largest hate site on the Web. The report pointed out that more than 100 people were killed by extremists active on the site in the prior five years.

So what was this guys deal? Anti-feminist?

Not that it matters because we can conclude from the picture that it was a simple case of mental illness and not terrorism or thuggish behavior.

Thank goodness the puke did save us taxpayers some money to not support his ass. Folks, if public hangings were still legal, we would cut out a lot of this crazy crap, have a surgical team on standby to take their organs after they die that way someone could get some good out of the sorry bastards.

There has been an average of 1 mass shooting (4+ people shot in one event) so far this year (204 in 204 days).

Actually, better enforcement of existing laws could have potentially stopped this. No additional laws would have.

More drunk driving victims than shooting victims, but people seem far more apathetic in response to the former...

Also, better enforcement of existing laws could have potentially stopped this. No additional laws would have.

This isn't a "one year" thing. Its pretty consistent for the last decade at least.

Quote :
"in 2013, 10,076 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States"

http://www.cdc.gov/motorvehiclesafety/impaired_driving/impaired-drv_factsheet.html

Quote :
"in 2013, Total firearm related deaths: 8,454"

Currently if a bg check takes longer than 3 days, it seems like the purchase is approved, this should be changed so that the bg check has to come back. This would have impacted the Charleston shooter and this guy. Also BG checks should include more information than they currently have.

These all fall under "current laws" but these are still things that would require legislative action, so "new laws". Therefore, it doesn't seem correct to say "no additional laws" would have changed this.
