https://www.themittani.com/news/e3-no-mans-sky-gameplay-shown-pc-release-announcedSome awesome trailers and gameplay vids. Theyve been very quiet about this game so glad for the updates. Really glad they are doing a joint PC/PS release. I know a lot of the Eve Online community is excited for this game, and we all are on PC.

Psyched about this game, equally as psyched they announced for PC. Curious about the level of content though.. is it just a big sandbox or is there actually a goal?
6/19/2015 10:31:19 AM
looks incredible but how big is too big? it must have quest lines or some objectives to upgrade the ship, etc. between this and FFVII it looks like I'm going to have to get a PS4. I also still haven't played the Last of Us.
6/19/2015 11:21:00 AM
"Goal" is to get to center of universe. I guess secondary goals would be find as manythings as possible. ^ ++ Same here getting a ps4.

I want to be excited about this game but honestly I can see it getting old after a few hours. If it's good I'll get it on Steam.

no real new news other than its gonna be 60 at release. As no one posted release date its Jun 21, 2016, so in a month.
5/17/2016 7:57:38 PM
Delayed until "at least July or August". This coming 2 days after I pre-ordered it from my brother-in-law as a birthday gift. http://kotaku.com/sources-no-mans-sky-delayed-1778797365
5/26/2016 3:54:19 PM
It's really late in the cycle to be delayed again, this is really strange. Most games 'go gold' around 3 weeks before release, and that's only a week away. Is the game that unfinished? Or maybe they got a greenlight for an XBone port?
5/26/2016 3:56:05 PM
"we meant next July or August"
5/26/2016 4:01:11 PM
^^Why delay the overall release for that at this point though? They have said all along that the game would only be available for PS4 and PC at release. If it were ready on those platforms, why take the bad press of another delay just to release on another platform at launch? It's a win/win if they go the other direction and get the PC/PS4 launch and then later get all the free press again when they launch on Xbox One.
5/26/2016 4:15:37 PM
True.I just can't remember the last time a game that was less than a month away from going retail pushed back their release. Nowadays that's what Day 1 patches are for, to tweak or repair things that might not've been quite done. Make me nervous about the 'finished' product if they're still so far in their development this close to a release date that they need to push it back.
5/26/2016 5:27:41 PM
My completely uninformed guess is that they encountered a game-breaking bug that went previously undiscovered due to the totally random nature of the world generation. There might have been some ridiculously unlikely combination of things that led to something terrible. But pure speculation, who really knows.
5/26/2016 5:51:56 PM
Don't preorder games.
5/26/2016 7:32:52 PM
yeah i don't normally (unless the deal is too much to pass up, which is very rare), i just needed a good gift idea.
5/27/2016 11:27:58 AM
I like your completely uninformed guess.
5/27/2016 12:17:00 PM
bumpAny thoughts with some of the media coverage saying its not going to be "done" but a work in progress?
8/4/2016 2:10:30 PM
I think this is going to be a huge flop. I don't want it to flop, but I think the expectations around the game have been blown way out of proportion. That there hasn't been a beta, or really any independent play-through of the product before now feeds that skepticism. My spidey sense is tingling in the direction of this being a big procedurally generated sandbox to play in and that's about it.
8/4/2016 4:49:06 PM
^ That my impression as well but I thought that's what they were going for the whole time?
8/4/2016 5:23:37 PM
Great concept but I think it will get boring fast af. Flying around dinosaur worlds that change geography/color a little bit can't be fun for more than a few hours. They should have made it a bit smaller and had more of a pick a faction giant space battle universe thing going on. Like WoW but with space ships and shit. I think they said it's extremely rare you'll ever encounter another player.
8/5/2016 9:17:49 AM
I watched the Kotaku 1 hour of play. It is very much a minecraft in space. I think they overshot the scale of this by a shit ton. I may still pick it up, I wonder how long it will be before they discount it?
8/6/2016 11:37:15 AM
Yeah I would have liked something that was something along the lines of a more accessible EVE. Focus on factions and claiming territory instead of strictly crafting from planet to planet.
8/6/2016 2:34:46 PM
I think it credits you for discoveries and you can trade with other players for gear, equipment etc. I am wondering how battles work. I am hoping not everyone I come across just decides I am just going to open fire because its cool. I am much more into the exploration aspect. I am also hoping my computer can run the damn thing lol.[Edited on August 8, 2016 at 8:11 AM. Reason : .]

Between all of the fallout about release dates, the leaked copy that was reviewed and panned, and the pre-release patch that supposedly fixed all the problems in the leaked version... I think this game is going to get a lotta lotta hate from people who thought it was going to be something more than it is.http://www.no-mans-sky.com/2016/08/what-do-you-do-in-no-mans-sky/"Here is what No Man’s Sky definitely is:- Exploring a universe of pretty procedurally generated worlds, with beautiful creatures- Trading with NPCs- Combat against robots/mechs and cool space battles- Survival/crafting in a universe sized sandbox- An awesome procedural soundtrack from my genuine favourite band (check the NMS album out here)- For one small moment, you might feel like you’ve stepped into a sci-fi book coverThat means this maybe isn’t the game you *imagined* from those trailers. If you hoped for things like pvp multiplayer or city building, piloting freighters, or building civilisations… that isn’t what NMS is. Over time it might become some of those things through updates. At launch though, it’s an infinite procedural sci-fi-space-survival-sandbox unlike anything you have ever played before. If you decide to play it, you’ll see just how closely it plays to those trailers, and to our original vision. It’s a weird game, it’s a niche game and it’s a very very chill game."[Edited on August 8, 2016 at 3:12 PM. Reason : a][Edited on August 8, 2016 at 3:14 PM. Reason : 6]

It is supposed to be very difficult to come across other players. In other words there is a bit of Fermi's paradox there .
8/8/2016 7:00:45 PM
Watched a trailer and it said the number of planets in the game was some ridiculous number like enough that I can see why you may never run across another player. Will be interesting to see what happens when people meet up. Do they stick together and over time larger groups sort of emerge or do people say hi then move on.
8/9/2016 8:31:59 AM
^lol if it is anything like DayZ, they'll just shoot you on sight and take your stuff. Given DayZ is a significantly smaller map than No Man's Sky (DayZ map is prob like 2.5x the size of GTA5) but still.
8/9/2016 9:25:17 AM
Yeah DayZ was always very likely something bad was gonna happen. If they didnt shoot you on site you had to assume at some point they were gonna hit you in the back with an axe or something. I had a few decent run ins with people but most of the time one of you ended up dead haha.
8/9/2016 9:28:55 AM
http://www.cad-comic.com/cad/They forgot the naming everything in sight. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/08/the-first-dozen-hours-of-no-mans-sky-soaring-past-disappointmentArs has a good first review of it. Graphics look great, though theres a few rough bits and wondering if for PC will fix/improve it further.
8/9/2016 10:05:50 AM
Decided to pick this up after watching the 1 hour Kotaku stream.
8/9/2016 2:36:07 PM
I may buy this tonight.
8/9/2016 8:09:13 PM
My concern, and seems like a lot of reviews have said the same thing, is that while cool for a few hours eventually it just becomes a repetitive boring game where you are just doing and seeing the same stuff over and over.
8/10/2016 9:06:31 AM
I honestly don't see how you could think it was anything except that. It's an inch deep and 100 miles wide. ]
8/10/2016 9:52:40 AM
Seems like every procedurally generated game that advertises these grand scopes always end up being just like this, no idea why people get so excited every time just to watch another game flop. I love that they had 2 players go to the exact same planet and they weren't even able to see each other. So it's 0% multiplayer, the only thing shared across universes are the planet names apparently, haha.Always felt like even some type of interaction with other players would be the thing that kept the game interesting, but without that, it seems like it would get boring REALLY quickly.
8/10/2016 10:14:25 AM
That may have been because of server problems, other people are saying they can see others
8/10/2016 10:27:14 AM
Bullshit.
8/10/2016 10:33:13 AM
I mean if there are over a quadrillion planets and lets say 10 million people are playing the odds of you even being on the same planet as someone else are like 1 in 100 million or something and I dont know how big the planets are but chances of you running across another person on the planet as well seems astronomical so expecting any multiplayer interaction in this game should be about the same chance as you winning the powerball.
8/10/2016 10:41:50 AM
And basically not worth implementing in the first place. Which it hasn't been. There is no multiplayer. Screenshot me. I'm not too big to admit I'm wrong, I'm just not wrong.
8/10/2016 10:45:43 AM
Maybe I'm wrong, but the idea that the two guys tried to meet at the same place but couldn't makes sense to me based on the code of this game. If it's procedure generated then i would expect only people "born" on the same date and therefore living in the same "era" would have a chance of meeting. It's kind of like how you can't go meet Ben Franklin right now, even if you head to Independence Hall and stand there.
8/10/2016 11:20:13 AM
I bought the game, and enjoyed it for the couple hours I played it last night.I can only laugh at the release of this game, and how no one had any clue about what the game actually was. It's pretty funny to read diehard fanboys realize they were "lied" to. I think people had a vision in there head of what this game was going to be (EVE online crossed with Destiny in a basically limitless universe where you can team with other players). It's just not that. I do think that the dev. team kept it hazy on what the game actually was, because it's most certainly not a persistent online world. You can pause the game, and everything stops. Your ship stops, the animals around you stop. It's not multiplayer at all. I'm fine with that, but I'm sure a whole lot of people will be greatly disappointed. I can understand some anger at the dev. team for not being more clear on the scope of the game. Then again, they are a business and are trying to make as much money as possible, so they're not really going to talk about how their game doesn't have all these facets that people wanted.
8/10/2016 1:49:59 PM
Sounds like it's a completely asynchronous "multiplayer" where the map, discovery, and naming of worlds is shared but there are no elements of actual direct interaction.
8/10/2016 2:02:29 PM
another great example of why you never prepurchase a video game
