may 2015 - 385 kWh 1800 sqftunless you have a 10,000 square foot house that seems high OP[Edited on June 18, 2015 at 5:22 PM. Reason : a]

I got up around 100 kWh/day on my March 2015 bill, but that included some cold weather during February when one of my heat pumps was screwed up and my heat strips were running a lot.
6/18/2015 5:24:32 PM
^^^ you have neighbors using 195kWh a month? Is a mini fridge the only thing they have plugged in?
6/18/2015 5:56:54 PM
Yea I'm finding out a lot of you people only turn the breaker on for four hours after work. Averaged just under 7 this afternoon
6/18/2015 6:10:18 PM
^^Haha I live in a 2 bedroom ~1000 sqft apartment and haven't been running the AC too much. The building is leed certified and has triple pane windows. We were even gone for 11 days that month. I sometimes think that our "energy efficient" neighbors are just vacant apartments.

I replaced all the bulbs in our apartment with CFLs or LEDs. I do run the AC between about 9pm and 5am because I like sleeping at about 66-68 degrees but in the winter months when we never once turned on the heat the graphs still showed us way ahead of our neighbors. I guess I do have a server running 24/7 and my desktop is on quite frequently. Still odd. Not going to complain too much about $40-60 though.

6/18/2015 7:19:42 PM
Yeah I live in Denver where even if it's 100 degrees during the day it may still drop to 50 at night. Even blasting the AC all last summer at night our energy bill was never over $75.
6/18/2015 7:57:40 PM
I don't know what it was about this place, but the last place I lived in Greenville I left the AC on 70 for months on end and I never paid more than $120 on the worst months. Loved it. It was always comfortable in there.Where I am now, I didn't run heat or air (AT ALL) for 3 straight months and it was never BELOW 120.
6/18/2015 8:05:02 PM
Getting a wifi thermostat with a schedule helped. It doesn't run during the day and I can turn it off/on remotely if I need to.
6/18/2015 8:28:50 PM
I've considered it.* Most of the time I just turn off the AC when I leave in the morning. I suppose it could help slightly if I had it automatically turn off 30min-hour earlier. If it weren't wasting energy cooling half the fucking house I don't use, that'd be great *Actually considered making one from arduino parts for shits and giggles
6/18/2015 8:33:39 PM
You can always close some vents in rooms you don't need cooled. Depending on how the HVAC runs are set up this might reduce energy consumption. Sometimes this can make the system less efficient too though and increase it.
6/18/2015 8:39:47 PM
What's your square footage? (Energy guy can't help but do his energy thing)
6/18/2015 9:34:30 PM
Mine? It's 1,076.
