I use old-fashioned wooden pencils...the erasers are really handy at getting the wax out. It makes them pretty much useless as erasers from then on, though.

^i think those things have been proven ineffective.

an ex-girlfriend i had in college used to bring them home from trips of visiting family in amish country. tried it a few times and never really could tell any difference. it feels a little weird.
