John Oliver sits down with Edward Snowden to discuss the NSA, the balance between privacy and security, and dick-pics.

I didn't watch the interview, as I couldn't get past the first 12 minute monologue of him making an analogy to something, and then LARPing that analogy.

So...not credible because people won't stick around to watch his actual "good stuff"

so you don't find him credible because you have a shitty attention span?

Maybe it bothers us when people like you fawn over him?

Actually your problem in particular is you simply can't fathom when people dislike things you like. A good example of this would be the way you passionately defend your opinions regarding music, tv, and movies (etc). The way you react in those threads is similar to the way you just reacted to kdogg (which is unnecessary because these things are all very petty).

I suggest fixing this character flaw would do you some good; otherwise you only do it to rile people up and on the internet that makes you a troll.

I don't know; spouting an opinion about something that you haven't fully observed is pretty obnoxious.

Also, doesn't YouTube allow viewers to skip ahead to the portion of the video that they prefer?

Credible or not, interviewing an individual that hundreds of reporters failed to interview is pretty impressive. Additionally, he didn't waste the opportunity to question Snowden with regard to his culpability for the decisions that he had made.

That was one of the best interviews I've seen in a long time... maybe THE best.

You should probably expand your horizons, then.

I will never accept that stealing a bunch of classified documents and indiscriminately handing them to the media is ok, but Snowden seemed better intentioned than I'd previously felt he was. GG small british man.

^ i was in the same boat, until I saw Snowdens other "interviews" which were really just soap boxes. I thought he was just a punk, but he really is intelligent and well intentioned.

Seeing Oliver basically rip into him about being a little too indiscriminate and the look on his face when he couldn't own up to it, was really refreshing. I also like how Oliver kind of knocked him off his soap box again when he started talking about servers and backend stuff… it makes me think Snowden is a little more paper thin than his previous appearances make him out to be.

Huh? Even if you think Snowden is a sleazy traitor prick who ought to hang (and I do), interviewing him is perfectly valid and does nothing to diminish the interviewer's credibility, unless they do nothing but lob softballs. Oliver did nothing of the sort.

Legitimate, respected reporters have interviewed worse people than Snowden and not had their credibility questioned as a result. That's how it should be. If you have the opportunity to question the bad guy, you should do it. Understanding the bad guy is important, probably more important than understanding the good guy.
