They didn't have time to prepare for us last time. We crushed Harrell -- don't know if we can do that twice. Duke showed them a press that will hurt us.

If this could finally be the game that Turner goes off from 3, I don't think their shitty offense can hang with us.

^ That's a big if. He's been downright lethargic in the tournament to this point. Here's to hoping he snaps out of it.

Lauren really was our hero last game. We almost waited too long to bring her in, but she helped us snatch victory just in time.

This will most likely be lost in the mix somewhere but this team really reminds of the 2011 Miami Heat team...really. Like the talent is there but we are most likely to lose in the championship to a veteran team...then next year absolutely dominate and crush everyone that comes through on the way to a Championship. Bosh, Dwade and Lebron as a college team basically. Mike Miller included.

Louisville is the Indiana Pacers of that same year.

that's how this season goes.

Maybe we will actually do what Lebron should have done if as advertised...won the championship the first year...that will be a testament.

I didn't watch a whole lot of the game tonight, but have they been pressing much lately? it seems like they are awful thin without Jones. basically playing 6 guys with a couple more role players getting a few minutes a game. I feel like our depth gives us an upper hand if the game is otherwise close.

I get that same feeling.

Another plus is that Gottfried beat a #1 seed back in 2004 tourney at Alabama to make it to the sweet 16..and then went on to the elite 8.

Hopefully he remembers how that process went and even improves on it.

Love how this "how the sweet 16 got there" article on ESPN leaves out Louisville as of 1:45 am.

Stringing together three wins in a row seems like a dicey proposition for this team

Of course so was knocking off a 1 seed so who the fuck knows

The press didn't hurt us...we had maybe one turnover against the press. What hurt us was not attacking after we broke the press...as well as not attacking those junk defenses they threw at us in the half-court.

Other than the WVU game earlier in the year...we've done fine against the press.

We beat UVA twice in '83

Actually, the similarities between this year and the '83 miracle run are making me really hype...

Quote :
"NC State played great to defeat a team who had only lost two games all year in UNLV Villanova in their second tourney game with a strong down-low performance from Thurl Bailey Abdul-Malik Abu and Dereck Whittenburg Cat Barber after barely surviving their first game against Pepperdine LSU."

Repeating our win against Louisville would be pretty similar to having to beat UVA twice (both seemed impossible). And UK is a pretty good representation of the unbeatable Phi Slamma Jamma (Houston) as well.

It's hard not to see the patterns and just believe...

Harrell isn't the guy that scares me on Louisville. Rozier is much more deadly. He was unstoppable in the first half last night. He's so fast with the ball in his hands, plus he's got a good shot and can defend.

He was in foul trouble last time we played and didn't really do anything -- he fouled out early IIRC. I'm guessing Lacey will be matched against him much of the game, along with Cat and Dez. Stopping him needs to be priority 1.

Louisville is coming for blood, I hope our guys don't underestimate them because we beat them earlier this year. Isn't Louisville a shitty shooting team? Shouldn't we play some zone and force them to make some outside shots which is not their bread and butter?

Louisville only played 6 guys >5 minutes last night. They have 0 depth. Those 6 guys are the only ones that averaged double digit minutes during the season. Quentin Snider replaced Chris Jones and while hes not as good as Chris Jones, he hasn't been shit terrible either. With that said, hes no Quarterman or Arcidiacono and we just had to deal with them.

Even thought they shoot the 3 at 30% as a team, last night they were 5-11. Its not their strength, but they can hurt you at times with it.

Rozier stirs the drink now that Jones is gone. He and Harrell are the keys followed by Blackshear.

I would imagine Cat starts out on Rozier, Lacey on Snider and Turner on Blackshear. Then you just throw rested bigs at Harrell all game long to try and wear him down.

Their other two big men, Mathiang and Onuaku are big and athletic to go with Harrell. Rebounding the miss is going to be HUGE for this team. Louisville is not a very strong shooting team. Keeping them out of the lane and then rebounding their misses and not giving them 2nd and 3rd chances will be my #1 key to this game.

Wonder if Harrell still gets the official halo he had last time we played them. Dude could hack at Freeman all game and they'd call it on the next closest player.

That was the game that Nard stepped up and gave good minutes.

Game should be a coin flip at least to get to the elite 8. Don't fuck it up gott.

^^^ Depth doesn't matter after a week of rest. Actually, depth doesn't matter that much generally since starters get even more minutes at the end of the year -- most just run a 7 man rotation anyway. The game is about starters beating starters.
