I see white and goldIf I want to convince myself this was taken in odd lighting, I could be convinced the white is a very unsaturated/pale blue

2/26/2015 9:06:13 PM
I saw 100% white and gold earlier, now I see 100% black and blue. I'm trying to convince myself that it's two different pictures I saw.
2/26/2015 9:21:04 PM

Depends on how good your eyes are.Better functioning eyes see blue/black.Lesser functioning eyes see white/gold.SCIENCE.

blue dress with brown pubes glued to it
2/26/2015 10:11:19 PM
I see light/pale blue and a dark gold.I figured it was mainly due to people having shitty screens that aren't white balanced properly or looking at it from weird angles.

My laptop screen has to be retardedly turned downward, in a way that nobody would ever use it, for it to turn white. Like 45 degrees towards the keyboard. And even then it looks more like you threw a negative image filter on it in photoshop and it would never fool me into thinking it wasn't blue.[Edited on February 26, 2015 at 10:43 PM. Reason : .]
2/26/2015 10:42:41 PM
when i look at the image with my screen perfectly perpendicular to my line of sight, it appears to be without-a-doubt white and some kind of tan/gold color.

2/26/2015 10:52:11 PM
so the people that see the lighter color as white...can you not see a huge contrast and difference in the lighter color of the dress versus all of the white on the right side of the photo in the background?mspaint knows the truth[Edited on February 26, 2015 at 10:59 PM. Reason : .]

http://www.wired.com/2015/02/science-one-agrees-color-dress/The colors in the image are a brown/light blue, but the dress is actually a dark blue/black.The original person that took the picture put some kind of instagram filter that added a yellow cast.So people who perceive the yellow cast tend to see the blue/black, people who see the actual color values tend to see the gold/white or gold/light-blue.also this: http://www.lottolab.org/illusiondemos/Demo%2012.html[Edited on February 26, 2015 at 11:15 PM. I don't think it's an eye thing, but you guys do realize being farsighted/nearsighted has nothing to do with color perception, right?
2/27/2015 12:38:53 AM
Once you see it...The first time I clicked on this thread, when there was but one reply, I thought "pale blue and blackish brown". Periwinkle and Umber, if you wish. Then my wife saw it posted on facebook and told me she saw gold and white. I still swore it was light blue and dark brown. I could barely even see how anyone could perceive it as white and gold. Then I clicked on this thread again, hours later, and now it looks white and gold to me. WTF???
2/27/2015 1:10:40 AM
Seen it about 30 different times on 4 different websites because everyones so enthralled with this shit, lol.Everytime i look at it, its white and gold. Have absolutely no idea where anyone could get blue/black out of this. But whatever.

I can't see the darker areas as "black" but maybe "golden brown"; I usually see them as "golden yellow"I could tell that the light area had a blue hue but it's still overall closer to "white" than to "blue"; I think it's how the highlights contrast with the shadows.

I see both sets of colors, depending on the screen, viewing angle, viewing distance, and the room's ambient lighting. Also, I've had like 10 friends say this was from a IRL friend. WHO IS THIS POPULAR PERSON?
2/27/2015 9:08:55 AM
I am not sure why I keep seeing this all over the place. Its very clearly blue and black I have no idea where anyone would even think its white and gold?

The actual dress may be black and blue, but the colors in the picture are gold and white/light blue
2/27/2015 9:54:54 AM
Itt people who don't understand color constancy. The reproduced clolors are gold/blue on a monitor but those with good color constancy will see a blue/black or blue/tan. I see white and gold because apparently my brain sucks at color constancy. The reason blue/black indicates better color constancy is the dress is actually black and blue as pointed out fucking everywhere 100 times over. People found it on amazon. Regardless that dress look like a dish rag[Edited on February 27, 2015 at 10:09 AM. Reason : ,][Edited on February 27, 2015 at 10:12 AM. Reason : ,]
