They approved me for a refund after a short phone call with them.

I had a taste of this with my 15" early 2011 MacBook Pro back in June, but that was before the warranty extension. My AppleCare protection had just barely run out, too. The Apple Store quoted me $310.00 to replace the logic board but said that in light of how recently my plan had ended, the good condition the laptop was otherwise in, and the fact that I'd never needed any other work done to it, they would charge me half.I was actually pretty satisfied with that, so imagine my surprise at the warranty extension. I called the other night to get my $155.00 back. The dude told me that my refund would take a few days to get reviewed, but it's already been approved.[Edited on February 25, 2015 at 7:47 AM. That is a way better experience than I had. I wouldn't have been as butthurt if they'd at least reduced the price by half.

To be fair, I did have to point out the AppleCare thing. It's not like they were feeling generous that day or something.
