I love poetry, I just thought that was Willard Scott, I was confused.

And when he died, he was a Tarheel dead. Thanks for your 20+ years on ESPN, I enjoyed most of your work, except for your predictable UNC bias. Other than that, a good guy who had a respectable legacy at ESPN, and being a cancer awareness advocate.

LOL @ TT10Also, fuck cancer. I heard this article (not about Stuart Scott) was really good and sad:http://nymag.com/news/features/cancer-peter-bach-2014-5/I dunno. It was too many words for me. Enjoy!

Yep, he was one of the good ones. I emailed ESPN a few months ago asking if I could get Stuart Scott's contact info. I was doing some freelance writing for the Winston-Salem Journal (his hometown) and wanted to get a quote. I didn't expect much of a response, but he wrote me back within a few minutes and said he'd love to talk, but that "timing is bad right now." He said he'd call me back in a couple months

When I saw the ESPYs speech I showed it to my wife and I told her he didn't have but a few months left to live. He did a lot for the V Foundation. I like to see him as blessed though. He had an emergency appendectomy which is what got doctors to discover a tumor in the first place. If he had needed that surgery his life may have ended much sooner. Instead he got another precious 7 years to be with his daughters.
