^I agree. Even though T3 and Terminator Salvation weren't that great, at least they looked cool in the trailers. This... does not. Apparently in this one the timeline is messed up by previous events and Sarah Connor ends up being raised by Arnold as the T-800 Terminator/dad. Seriously that is a horrible premise for a Terminator film. Also, I feel like the word "Genisys" is something that trailer trash would name their child.
12/4/2014 3:20:41 PM
Can this franchise just die? This will be terrible, still seeing it though.
12/4/2014 3:24:59 PM
I feel like I've seen this movie before. Maybe I don't understand the timeline but this looks identical to Terminator 2 instead of a boy it is a girl he is protecting...and did he really say, "ill be back" again? lol

^agreed. the end was stupid, but i guess terminators are sturdy enough to skydive out of helicopters. it's eery how much daenerys looks like linda hamilton.

at least it appears there's a (somewhat) logical explanation for arnold looking old as shit
12/4/2014 8:28:06 PM
Casting the shitty emilia clarke as the lead was a mistake.

there are at least 5 scenes from that trailer that were directly lifter from T1 and T2. Just FYI, don't know what to make of that yet.

Could be one of Arnold's finest performances of all time. One for the ages.

I mean...I think she kind of looks like Linda Hamilton...but its probably because they gave her the same hairstyle. It's not like they had a lot of decent actresses that looks like Linda Hamilton to choose from. You can't be nitpicky here.
12/5/2014 10:35:37 AM
in parts of the trailer i thought she looked like linda hamilton from terminator 1, without awful 1984 hair of course.also obvious: much better looking, maybe more like linda hamilton's hot daughter.[Edited on December 5, 2014 at 10:50 AM. Reason : ]

So now John Connor is a villain? Wtf?

I'm going to be disappointed when I finally watch this on cable drunk in about 5 years.

I've got some time to kill this afternoon, so I'm gonna check this shit out. I'm going in with quite low expectations, so maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.
7/1/2015 9:27:06 AM
yeah this looks terrible and the director is the same guy who did Thor Dark World and nothing else you would recognize...
7/2/2015 11:45:55 AM
The presence of an asian terminator just confirms that this movie was largely made because it will make $texas overseas.
7/2/2015 2:39:43 PM
I'll probably skip this one. Because I know if I watch the Arnold vs. Arnold scene, it will forever ruin any movies or television I could ever watch for the rest of my life.
7/2/2015 5:20:33 PM
That's wise. You should probably go see Magic Mike XXL instead.

Went in with extremely low expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The trailers made it look awful but it wasn't bad. Better than T3 and Salvation in my opinion but clearly nowhere near as good as the first two. There were a lot of plot holes, but that happens with just about any movie that has time travel. I really enjoyed the scenes set in the future featuring the war against Skynet.SPOILERS BELOWSo who sent the Terminators back to 1973? Assumed Skynet sent the T-1000 back but it made a point to say that they didn't know who sent back the T-800, implying it wasn't John Connor. Also, I guess T2 and T3 never really happen now? Since Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese now live in 2017 obviously John Connor isn't a teen in the 90s when the Robert Patrick T-1000 went back to kill him.One thing that does really bug me though is that the whole theme of T3 was that Judgment Day could never be stopped -- only delayed.
7/3/2015 5:57:04 PM
I also went in with very low expectations, and while it was maybe a little better than I was expecting, I was not pleasantly surprised. It wasn't horrible, it just wasn't good. Arnold was the best part. I hated the guy playing Reese. I think I've only seen terminator 3 once, but it still holds a sort of fond place in my heart, it wasn't great, but I didn't dislike that movie, the big car chase sequence in it was seriously phenomenal. So in my mind this was about on the same level as 3, but salvation fucking blew, much better than that.
7/3/2015 7:17:24 PM
Movie sucked
7/4/2015 7:38:39 PM
Just got back from watching it.I look at the first two Terminator movies as real movies. The rest are crap. Disappointed how they made Sarah Connor into a daddy's girl.
7/8/2015 12:52:03 AM
Emilia Clarke is a terrible actress
7/8/2015 1:26:02 AM
Jennifer Lawrence would've made a better Sara Connor. Clarke couldn't act her way out of a paper bag puppet show.

The interesting part about salvation is that when Sam Worthington was cast, everybody was like "He sucks, this is a miscasting" and then when Jai Courtney was cast for this movie, the response was more or less the same. So then, are These guys earning These roles, or is the production somehow required to cast an Australian for These parts?[Edited on July 8, 2015 at 2:25 PM. Reason : s]

The movie is definitely not the disaster that people were calling it. Yes, it is a time travel reboot, and although I can see how that may hurt fans that grew up loving the first two movies, time travel reboots serve to revive a franchise in a way that breaths more life into it as opposed to just adding on useless sequels (T3 and Salvation). What is most important and unique about this particular reboot is that the past (i.e. the first movie) still matters and is key to setting up this entire new timeline. So, in my mind it really is not erasing a whole cherished part of my childhood, but is just adding another fresh chapter to the original story. Think about it, all of the lore that we know about Terminator starts (or begins?) with JC sending KR back in time to save his mom, and that basically sums up everything that we know about this universe from four films. However, this movie picks up at the end of the lore and for the first time gives us a look into what happens after JC completes his fate and sends KR back in time, and the nerd in me thinks that is pretty fucking awesome. Speaking of awesome, Arnold probably gives his best performance as the Terminator yet to date. I love how he gives little hints and clues as to how he spent his time alone without Sarah, and how the machine in him for some inexplicable reason developed a connection with her that he sorely missed. I really like how this is not barfed out as a flash back or exposition, but is instead shown by little things like him bringing a teddy bear to see her at the hospital or working on the construction crew and putting her fingerprints into the access codes.I also liked the pacing… a lot. There were fortunately not that many moments where the film dragged to a halt, as they instead shot a lot of action scenes that lead directly towards a surprise action scene (a classic Spielberg move) that serves to keep the film going and pushing instead of having a pause and a breather at the end of each action set.My only problem with this movie was the casting. What in the hell were they thinking? It is not just Jai Courtney, but Jason Clark and Emilia Clark also totally dropped the ball. The problem is that they were either over acting, or they were obviously acting. And yes, they turned Sarah Connor, the most legendary bad ass mom ever, into a weak daddy’s girl. For instance, it would have been so much better if they showed her immediately striping off her clothes to get into the time machine and then making some joke about how KR can't get it going fast enough or something. Instead, they have her go into a room to undress and come out in a robe like she is fucking 14? Things like that just don’t fit her character that is designing plans to trap and kill futuristic robots. All I will say about Jai is that I thought that KR was going to turn out to be the robot, because he always gives these blank, villainous stares as the camera cuts. It is not that he is bad, I just think that he plays those roles the best, which is why the only movies that he gets praise for are Jack Reacher and Divergent where he plays a villain in both parts.[Edited on November 21, 2015 at 6:40 AM.
