he looked great last night, but let's reserve judgement until we play a quality opponent like Hofstra or Jacksonville

One thing that was great to see, regardless of competition, was how well Lacey and Cat fed off each other and set the other one up. That type of chemistry already in game 1 is fantastic. That's the sort of thing I'd hoped to see from Cat and Tyler on the court together. It was fun to watch.

Glad Lacey shook off whatever it was that made him shoot/play so poorly in the exhibition game.

Watched the Villanova game tonight. Can't believe he transferred here to play one year. Like why even bother? He was 23 when he transferred. He should have just declared. But having sat out that whole time, he decides to declare on a surprise to Gott. It doesn't make any damn sense.

prolly because hes gonna be making as much or more money than most of the cats on this board playing a game that he loves. If you don't understand why he left by now, then i'm sorry, you're never gonna get it and it doesn't need to be explained to you anymore.

The fact is that his NBA position is PG and he was not going to get the opportunity to prove he is capable of running a team this coming year...plus the dude is almost 24 and his family needs the money.

Another big thing that most people don't consider is that he was likely going to see his PPG #'s decrease this year because all of the younger guys will be improved and see more possessions (Abu/Martin14).

Should somebody have created some kind of slush fund to get him to stay? Probably

NBA scouts don't look at PPG, unless you mean he was might've been less likely to enjoy being on the team b/c he was scoring a couple less PPG

I meant he was not going to be 'the guy' this year like he was this past season. I'm sure most of his numbers would've dropped.

Why waste another year dicking around when he can go overseas and start playing PG against pros (where he can show NBA teams if he can actually run a team)? He wasn't going to show them anything they haven't already seen.

Youd play against better competition in the acc. The "other scorers developing" excuse doesn't work either since that would only give him more ways to show a complete game.

the thing is that he could have easily gotten this same job if he had stayed another year, but with staying he would have been in the national spotlight all season. There is pleeeeennnnty of precedent for "older" players that make huge runs in conference/ACC play that get drafted, whereas going directly to Europe is basically a death blow. The main path to playing in the NBA is still through the NBA draft, so that should have been his goal.

I really wouldn't call being the leading scorer for a pretty good NC State basketball team "being in the national spotlight all season"
