That's like 1 out of 10 on a scale of 10 being blackface and 1 not being blackface

so why is black face such a big deal? i only ask because if someone wants to do an accurate costume and they are intending on portraying a black person, kind of makes sense to match skin tone. (i'm not talking about the jet black "black face" from the 50s and shit but darkening or making skin more brown)

Does anyone seriously think blackface is the most offensive/insensitive part of this costume?

Nothing's funnier than domestic violence!

The kid wearing brown face paint adds nothing to the costume, and it's not a good idea in general, but it's not as patently offensive as "LOL I HIT A GIRL."

The asshole in the Deadspin link who is wearing an afro wig and wearing a chain is straight-up, no shit racist.

ITT we learn that TWWers would let their kid go to school looking like that because "it's not real blackface."

There's "black face" and there's "using makeup to help enhance a portrayal".

This kid's idiot parent, and others, just smeared something dark (often literally actually black) to pretend to be a black person, and think thats okay. they didn't even bother to change this forehead or hair. This is black face, it's insensitive, and its racism (although the parents probably were just too ignorant to realize this).

It's not a good idea either way, because if you don't do a good job, it comes off as mocking another race, but you can't just smear a single paint color on your face and say you're an african america. Most african americans are a light brown anyway, but it's even rarer that you even need to change your skin color to convey who you are trying to be.
