do we get to see dizzy's tits again?
1/11/2015 9:52:45 PM
Holy Shit, the original came out in 2001? Damn I feel old. Also - that article makes it seem unclear about how much of the old cast is returning...and that terrifies me.
1/12/2015 9:46:30 AM
Well, I'd imagine all the Broken Lizard guys will be in it. Hard to say who else would be outside of that though.
1/12/2015 11:26:53 AM
Won't be nearly as funny without the chief
1/12/2015 11:52:02 AM
^ That's pretty much the cast member I'm looking for. No Brian Cox, no go.
1/12/2015 12:02:55 PM
Brian Cox is fine. Daniel von Bargen shot himself in the face tho.

while I'll 100% see this the second it comes out ...it's a little fucking disingenuous for them to say that the movie "can't" be done unless we raise 2mil ... each of those guys could drop two mil on this movie alone, let alone needing a campaign .... now they can say they WANT us to fund-raise it, sure, but they don't fucking need it.
3/24/2015 7:50:41 PM
Dropping $2 mil on a movie yourselves is one thing, but having other people do it proves there's a market. It would be a little foolish for them to do it themselves, unless the purpose was to fulfill a dying wish for someone.
3/24/2015 8:03:06 PM
Doesn't this just kinda scream that their ideas for a sequel weren't good enough to get the backing of any producers?
3/24/2015 8:54:38 PM
LOL I read this as "Starship Troopers 2" at first and I was like, man that is really dumb
3/24/2015 10:00:33 PM

alllll right fair enough, only Jay Chandrasekhar, seems to have been intelligent with his money and has a net worth of 9mill.I guess it was a little much to assume they'd been responsible with money and after 2 pretty popular movies ( that grossed over 40million dollars between them) had 400k each lying around to make even more money :x silly me. "each of these guys" was obviously completely wrong, so I take that backi will say i'd think the "proving their is a market" angle, seems way more plausible than they don't have the money (although again it seems the blew most of their money as a collective and thus don't.)^23 million gross for a movie that cost 3 million seems like pretty fucking solid return on investment.]
3/25/2015 9:56:16 AM
kind of ridiculous to assume that they weren't smart with their moneynone of them are anywhere close to bankable stars
3/25/2015 11:24:09 AM
What I don't understand is why there wouldn't be any film studios out there that think this is a good idea. It's guaranteed to, at the very least, break even.As a reply to above, yes Slammin' Salmon was straight to DVD. And from the little of it I saw, was horrible.
3/25/2015 12:54:45 PM
^ maybe they wanna do it this way so they maintain ultimate creative control over it, like the first one.
3/25/2015 12:56:34 PM
Good point.
3/25/2015 3:53:47 PM
Looks like they just hit $2 million
3/25/2015 5:01:11 PM
Wow. That didn't take long.
3/25/2015 7:41:15 PM
pay to make this movienow pay to see it. and no recording.
3/26/2015 12:59:56 AM
I really like the idea of independently funded movies. The less studio involvement the more money that can actually go to the people who do things like write the script and act in the movie. One of the truly great things about the internet is that it is really starting to remove the middle man in a lot of ways. Content creators can go straight to the audience instead of having to go through networks or studios that mangle their works and claim most of the profits. I'm all for video on demand and putting stuff up on Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. vs. the way things have traditionally been marketed and distributed.Unless they substantially change their current business model a lot of studios will be gone in the next decade.

I thought that part was pretty disingenuous, especially given how the rest of the article talked about being able to invest in movies in the future. There are plenty of crowdfunding campaigns that have succeeded by having a pledge level to receive the album/game/gadget/whatever that is roughly similar to what it would be priced at after release, then (obviously) having some of the higher dollar packages where you get to hang out with the band or get memorabilia or whatever. To imply that people that want to support this movie should be paying a $20+ premium on an already pricey movie ticket and "that’s how crowdfunding works" is ridiculous. Let people pay you $12-15 in advance and use that money to make the movie (in addition to the high dollar pledges for more exclusive stuff), just like a band does when people give them $12-15 to get a copy of an album that hasn't been recorded yet.
