The wedding I was at last weekend used Adam Sandler's "Grow Old With You" from the wedding singer.

as a veteran of many weddings, I can safely say that wedding bands kill wedding fun

even the good ones aren't as good as a below-average DJ

^ Our wedding band was better than any DJ I've seen at a wedding, and I've seen some good DJs (went to one a couple weeks ago that was very close). But our wedding band was like 9 black dudes and one Alicia Keyes type chick that danced all over the place and it was nuts. They were, however, Texa$. So maybe the basic wedding band isn't as good as a below average DJ. But you pay enough money, and there are some awesome wedding bands. I was highly against a band until I saw a few that we were choosing from.

Btw...our first dance song was Stay With You - John Legend.

Baptist weddings are the worst. Long ass boring ceremony with singing and bible readings, then a reception with no alcohol and usually just light appetizers because no one wants to sit around sober so they all leave pretty quick and go home to get wasted because it's only a sin if someone else sees you do it.

I went to a baptist wedding once.

every other wedding invitation that had a baptist church as the ceremony location was declined.

Yea it was boring. The service itself was pretty short, as my wife didn't really give two shits about a big fancy ceremony. Afterwards we just hung out in the fellowship hall and ate wedding cake, appetizers and the guests pretty much just waited on us to leave so they could throw rice at us.

We got married in a restaurant. We fed everyone afterwards, with an open bar (including liquor).

"I'm Yours" Jason Mraz. It was all over the radio when we started dating in '08. We got a pair of DJs: NeuRomance.

Walked out to "Love and Happiness."
Wife came out to the "Ready or Not" Fugees instrumental (basically Enya)
Walked back to "Jump Around"; wife's a UNC grad.

^^I have a set of those as well.

Wedding song: Comes A Time, Neil Young
Divorce Day song: Party Rock Anthem, LMFAO

Sad because the Neil Young song was really good. But I feel like it's cursed now.

In before a thousand "The Luckiest" by BFF.

We did "That's How Strong My Love Is" by Otis Redding, with a live band.

The band was amazing.

If you live in the Morehead City/Beaufort area, odds are my uncle's band has played your wedding.

We got married at John's Grill in San Francisco. No music aside from what they were already playing there (Nat King Cole, Sinatra, Dean Martin). Super small, short ceremony.

Part of this was to avoid family and wedding band obligations, honestly.

First Dance: You Are the Best Thing by Ray LaMontagne

Romantic and slow enough but not boring and still fun to dance to.

We did not have a DJ, just did some research and put together a bunch of songs we loved or had special meaning or we just thought would be a good time. As the night went on we opened up grooveshark or spotify or something and let people add songs they wanted to dance to.

vinylbandit was my dj (and I was very pleased. aside from a few requests he did all 50-60s R&B and soul as we requested. I didn't really give him much direction past that and the handful of songs for particular 1st dances etc)

and first song. . . . "Baby's Arms" - Kurt Vile
dance with my mom: "In My Life" - Beatles

Some of these baptist weddings sound like they'd be more fun if they'd just gone down to the county courthouse and signed some papers.

God Only Knows by The Beach Boys (meant to be an ironic inside joke that maybe only one person got)

Of course, my mom and I danced to Wild Thing by Ton Loc, so I don't know how seriously we took the whole thing.
