I love the old days when manufacturers only made one or two varieties of their products and did not resort to any gimmicks!Anyway, so I see there are 5 varieties. I have skimmed some of the amazon reviews, but I don't know how to decide, as all the models except one have amazing ratings. This model you have to unscrew the cap off completely, wide mouthhttp://www.amazon.com/Nalgene-Tritan-N-GEN-Mouth-Bottle/dp/B002PLWBA4On the Fly model, attached flip-up cap, narrow spouthttp://www.amazon.com/Nalgene-Water-Bottle-Blue-Glacial/dp/B0043TBA3AOn the Go model, attached flip-up cap, narrow spouthttp://www.amazon.com/NALGENE-Tritan-BPA-Free-Water-Bottle/dp/B001NCDE5W <--- this is the only one that has potential problems looking at the amazon reviewsOriginal model, wide mouthhttp://www.amazon.com/Nalgene-Tritan-BPA-Free-Bottle-1-Quart/dp/B001NCDE8OOriginal model, narrow mouthhttp://www.amazon.com/NALGENE-Tritan-1-Quart-Narrow-BPA-Free/dp/B001NCDE48And the competition is the KOR Aurahttp://www.amazon.com/KOR-Water-Bottle-750ml-Sawgrass/dp/B0050TQ1K4Any personal experience or things to watch out for will be appreciated

Whichever one has the least amount of nooks and crannies for bacteria to hide, and is easy to clean.
9/8/2014 2:30:57 AM
yeah i thought of that as well, but since i plan on washing mine daily, it is not a huge concern. thanks though.going with that criteria, it is between the following 3 models1, 4, KOR

I cannot imagine this being so complex of a decision that you require input from others.

I have three of them - all original wide mouths. You can get a thing that clicks in and narrows the opening so it's easier to drink from. The wide mouth is better because it's much easier to fill with ice and easier to clean. I keep one at the beach, one in my office, and one on my night side table. I highly recommend the glow in the dark model for drinking out of at night because it really does glow well and if you sleep in pitch black like me, it's really convenient to be able to see where it is on your table.I have the green glow one, but they also make it in blue. The pictures of the blue look cool and I'm sure it glows just as well but I can't speak to that from experience. [Edited on September 8, 2014 at 11:05 AM. Reason : GLOW]

I will say it is a bitch to put ice in the narrow mouth sometimes, and to be fair its not that hard to drink out of the wide mouth ones even without the insert.Really doe, its just something to drink out of. You shouldn't need help making a decision because in the end it doesn't matter. You put liquid in it, and then you turn it upside down and then the liquid comes out and goes into your mouth. For some reason, I can only drink coke or moonshine out of mason jars. It feels weird putting anything else in one.I'm Krallum and I approved this message.

^^These are really good glass water bottles with rubber wraps. They're available at Whole Foods and I'm sure other places LifeFactory
9/8/2014 11:58:21 AM
the correct answer is HDPE and wide-mouthi'm still using my original 32oz white nalgene with the old logo...it's got to be more almost 20 years old now
9/8/2014 12:09:55 PM
*puts filtered water into Nalgene...doesn't use filtered ice.

Turn the knob on the damn spigot around the side of the house, and drink water out of the hose.... Just like your grandma told your cousin, brother, and yourself to do when you were younger

Get the one with extra bisphenol A
9/8/2014 11:09:32 PM
^^^ i would assume anything that isn't insulated/double-walled is going to sweat
9/9/2014 9:06:18 AM
Those in particular sweat way more than my nalgene bottles, plus I can put a freakers on the nalgene. Pain in the ass to slide a freakers over the silicone.

For stainless we use hydroflask and are happy with them other than the weight. They'll keep stuff hot or cold for a long damn time though so the trade-off is nice. I also have a Lifeline but so far I've only used it as a beer growler. Neither of them impart any kind of taste though and they're tough as hell. Mine are dented, scratched, etc. and still work great.
9/16/2014 7:53:15 AM
If you get one with a closed loop, you could always clip it on with a carabiner or some other sort of attachment device.

the "risk" associated with BPA or other xenoestrogens (leached from a water bottle) to an adult is minimal at best...should you microwave formula in and feed your baby from a plastic bottle that's made of copolyester or polycarbonate? personal choice, but i certainly wouldn't do itBPA leaches out of the plastic most when in contact with acidic or hot liquid...so if you're only drinking water from your bottle, you REALLY have nothing to worry about...you're probably not going to put hot coffee in your plastic bottle, so unless you're drinking OJ or something, you're fine (actually, even if you're drinking OJ, you're fine)i have a kleen kanteen (stainless) and it doesn't impart any taste...it DOES, however, get dents very easily and sweats more than my nalgenesif you're truly worried about BPA and still want a plastic bottle, get the white nalgene (HDPE): http://www.rei.com/item/402049/nalgene-wide-mouth-loop-top-round-bottle-32-fl-ozpolyethylene (HDPE/LDPE) and polypropylene (PP) are about as "safe" as it's going to get

When I was in college, Nalgene bottles were a status symbol. Are they still that way? It would be much cheaper just to refill a Pepsi bottle a time or two and then get another one.
9/16/2014 10:38:43 PM
3^ what he said. Our baby bottles are glass (lifefactory ♥ ) and we don't reheat food in plastic. I use all sorts of plastic bottles, my double walled tervis water bottle is my favorite and would be my go to if it held more.
