and the address on the envelope was different than the address on the check, would you still cash it? (i'm with state employees', it has my drivers license number and everything on it).Was trying to get a rental cabin in the mountains and this fucking dumbass wouldn't accept our deposit because the address didn't match. I replied back that I would take my business else where and i just moved two months ago.

Roofing company took my 10 year old check for $1350 without question

I usually write my updated address on the check if it's outdated ... gonna have to do that soon with my current checks

I still have checks with just my wifes name, which is wrong its changed, and the address has been wrong for 3 years. I write them all the time and sign my name (which is on acct now, just not on checks). Its never been a problem.

No, I would not accept any check from you, Novicane.

If somebody mailed me a check I'd cash it. I like getting money.

Sometimes I use business envelopes to mail out personal checks b/c I don't have a plain white envelope of my ownNobody has ever said anything about the addresses not matching

Dont have my address on my checks for that reason. Only my phone number and drivers license.

Some people are just plain old ornery. I once called an older guy who was selling his car on craigslist with just the year make and model listed in the ad, I called and had asked three questions when he just got all pissy and told me if I'm "just gonna ask all sorts of questions" then he didn't feel like selling it to me and hung up.

Personal Checks? Fuck that. You're giving them your valid checking account number which can easily mean check fraud. Cashiers Check ftw.

i have checks from 2 addresses ago still and never been a problem. Who writes checks enough to always get more?

The only time I ever had an issue was at the DMV. They just told me to mark out the old address, write the new one in, & everything was ok.

since personal checks are largely useless, i'm still using my original checkbook from when i opened my account 12 years ago...it doesn't have my license number on itso far, the 1 or 2 checks i write a year (the last one was in february of this year) haven't had any trouble

The only time I had a problem was when I had an old NC check (under my maiden name, but she didn't even notice that) that a clerk was verifying against my Florida license. She still ended up taking it.
