** Background: The owner in question lives in SC and these pictures/quotes are basically the highlight reel from his "build thread" on a private Southeast drifting-oriented forum. I recently posted this collection in Zilvia.net's "You're doing it wrong" thread and I figured you TWW guys might enjoy it if I copy/paste'd it here too. **

The following photos are all of the same car and in chronological order. Plus a few golden quotes.

ARE. YOU. READY. TO. RUUUUUMMMMMBBBBLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Quote :
"Volvo and saab hooked me up fat with some free intercooler pipes."

Quote :
"Swap kit mounts. 1/8" plate. Should be strong enough to not buckle."

Quote :
"First one sucked. I hated welding it up because the low iron content of the piping i was using made it easy to burn through. the slag inside the piping wouldn't have all gotten out with a bottle hone either. Turbine wheels hate slag."

Quote :
"Starting to look like an actual car kinda."

Quote :
"Not sure how this is going to work. It'll have to do. No fucks given. ZERO."

Quote :
"Car didn't have any skulls. Needed skulls."

Quote :
"Outside got a $50 rattle can job. 2 tone satin walnut/gloss black with gloss black roof n pillars. "

Quote :
"Interior is slowly getting worked on."

Quote :
"Another cabin fire almost.

Killed 5 fuses, my ignition/efi relay kill switch and burnt up the wire that goes from key "on" to said switch.....

this is completely bullshit considering before i put the "street legal necessities" in things were fine. For days."

Quote :
"My Flasher relay, stop light relay, and parking light relays are all mounted on the rear deck near the speakers and were not in circuit (nor was megasquirt or my wideband/02) at the time of this more minor electric blunder."

Quote :
"Put my interior back together and rocking grimey life door panels now"

Quote :
"All pipes notched by hand using a grinder. Took a while..."

Someone asks if he's using an old trampoline as crash bars, to which he replies:

Quote :
"I used a trampoline for coolant pipes also."

Quote :
"I about broke my wheel off in the parking lot at work monday"

Quote :
"Been down for a while. Broke a timing belt at work backing out of a spot"

Quote :
"Piston tops were dirty as hell so i cleaned them to find signs of damage or det. No pics but this one really which shows nothing. 4 valves made contact. Exhaust valves at that. Just small little divots, nothing serious. I sanded em down smooth and whatever happens happens"

Quote :
"Worst welding ever but it held up!"

Quote :
"Monday after work i decided i'd go to the junkyard. I had already ordered 2" 3 bolt flanges to make a new ghetto multipiece manifold but realized i recycled all the bends i had leftover from the v2.1 or v2.2 or whatever version manifold"

Quote :
"Fuck coolant. Atleast I won't have to do much when rx7 radiator goes in."

(yes, it's a 90° elbow on the block to a 90° rubber hose to a 90° rubber hose to a 90° aluminum (or maybe steel?) elbow to a 90° rubber hose to a looooooooooong 90° steel pipe to a 90° hose to the radiator)

Quote :
"Did this over the weekend. I dig it. Kinda cool. makes me want aero but whatever."

…Actually, now that I think about it, that's the same coupe.

Previous owner painted it white, put that s14 front on it, painted it purple, switched back to s13 front, added a dumb body kit, painted it grey, and then sold it to the most recent derp who swapped in a VG (or two, or three, I'm not sure), and painted it a brown/black two-tone.

Oh, and the car was originally red.

And who knows how many colors it was sprayed between red and white.

When's the last time anyone saw a 240sx that wasn't half-assed, fucked up, and riced all to hell?

I couldn't remember the last time . I think clean 240s are extinct.

haha, i bet the hinge is some redneck attempt at a sort of baffle to prevent sloshing.

I'm pretty sure that oil pan has a golf ball sized dimple.

Old school garagers know what I'm talking about.

Also those tie rod ends are going to kill somebody.

It's common (at least on these 240s) for high-capacity aftermarket oil pans to have those trap doors for each "wing" of the pan. It's a one-way door such that oil can easily flow from the wing of the pan to the center (where the oil pickup tube sits) but oil can't quickly flow back into the wing. This way you can have a wider oil pan for added capacity without having to worry about oil starvation during cornering.

Both of my aftermarket SR20 oil pans had trap doors like that. Just not as frighteningly ghetto.

Sad but true. My S14 is somewhat clean, which makes it sort of a unicorn in my experience. I just wish I could get my hands on another stock S14 exhaust.

I was thinking about this recently. The people who would probably build a clean well modified 240, or say an EG/EK Civic, can afford to buy a different car. That's what's happened to me. I wanted all those cars back when I was at NCSU or after I got out. Now I can build a sweet one, and I could afford to go buy one of the few nice ones left. I just don't want to anymore.

I wouldn't mind building a drift missile some day but I just done see it happening without getting rid of another car and that's just not going to happen.

Reminds me of building forts as a kid with absolutely anything I could find. Only difference is my forts weren't going to kill anyone.

I'm surprised none of you pointed out the extremely gay rims or the purple haze shift knob.

The wheels are shift knob are practically SEMA-caliber compared to the rest of the car.

I want to ask why you'd use a VG30 in a 240 in the first place. But that seems sort of inconsequential given the general level of WTF of that car...
