Sorry for posting this here, but honestly didn't want to advertise this in the general ChitChat/ Classifieds area where it's just going to get trolled. My wife is desperately trying to finish her PhD and is actively recruiting mothers with children ages 3-5 to participate in a free weight loss study. Can you good folks do me a solid and if you know anyone who may be interested, please forward them the website/info? (you'll be redirected using the link below). If you have any questions, feel free to contact her through the info found at the site, or you can shoot me a PM. We sincerely appreciate any and all help promoting this! Also, if you are able and willing to post a flyer in your workplace/community pool/etc. we would be forever grateful and will send you a PDF as long as she has IRB approval to post in that location type.

You guys rock! Thanks!I'll forward along your suggestions. The main issue is that the participants need to be somewhat local as they'll have to go to UNC's campus a few times. But everything is worth looking into! We've shared info/posters with all of the local schools, libraries, daycares, pediatricians, kid gyms, etc. Even sent some emails out through some of the local HOA email lists. If anyone has suggestions though, we're all ears![Edited on July 2, 2014 at 10:15 AM. Sorry my youngest just turned 7 so my wife would not qualify.I have done one of the weight loss studies here and lost 15-20 pounds with no drugs or anything. Just paying better attention to the shit I eat and trying to be more active. Good stuff. I would encourage anybody else that falls under this to give it a shot. Programs are very supportive and totally worth it.

absolutely! This is the type of study that focuses on very minimal changes that aren't hard to implement and doesn't involve starving yourself haha. No weird drugs or gimmicks (no carb, only gluten free, blah blah.)You even get paid a little to cover your time for coming in to the office at UNC![Edited on July 2, 2014 at 12:35 PM. Reason : .]

Shit I have a hard time finding women who AREN'T overweight and with little kids.

Agreed. The problem is getting them to be truthful on the preliminary survey. Nobody is judging, I promise.

Posted this to Facebook. Good luck. P.S. UNC still sucks.

Is the study basically about seeing if mom's choices affect baby's choices? Tell her I'd be all over a study for breastfeeding women and weight loss.[Edited on July 7, 2014 at 4:39 PM. Reason : .]

There are quite a few aspects that are being studied. To maintain the validity of the study, she cant really comment. But thank you so SO much to everyone who has shared this with friends/family/coworkers. Facebook seems to be the best recruitment tool so far! We really appreciate you guys sharing (and re-sharing if you're feeling particularly generous!)

lol....I filled it out and one called so I guess I didn't qualify....truthfully I drink soda stream and AMP energy drinks. I am afraid if you took my blood at this point it would be yellow.I figure I will quit the caffeine when the kids sleep in past 7.

honestly, there are a few different criterion that you (and/or your child) have to meet to be eligible, but you will definitely be contacted by email if you do not qualify. There is always the possibility that the eligibility criterion will change, in which case you will be contacted again if you do end up qualifying.Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out the survey![Edited on July 9, 2014 at 10:09 AM.
